Cross Country to Compete in Stanford Invitational
The 1997 men's and women's cross country teams travel to the Stanford Invitational where the defending national champion Cardinal host more than 4,000 college, university and high school athletes this Saturday, Sept. 27. The races start and finish at the second hole at the Stanford Golf Course.
Irvine Invitational
Both the men and women began the season with
respectable showings at the California Irvine Invitational. The men
finished fourth out of 12 teams with Ari Rodriguez and Matt Repak leading
the way. Rodriguez finished 11th overall in 25:58 with Repak one place and
one second behind. The women finished sixth out of 14 teams as Mary
Duerbeck paced the Sun Devil squad, finishing in 18:17 to place 17th
overall.
Youth Movement
Twenty-two (11 men and 11 women) of 34 roster
members on the 1997 squad are newcomers to ASU. Of those 22 newcomers, all
but one are freshmen. That leaves 12 returners two of which, Matt Repak and
Ari Rodriguez, have more than one year's experience. Rodriguez, Repak and
Andy Carusetta return for their senior years after redshirting a year ago.
