TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State University graduate and former Sun Devil Baseball student-athlete Cory Hahn will throw out the final ceremonial first pitch in Packard Stadium history on Tuesday, May 20.
ASU hosts Abilene Christian at 6:30 p.m., and all fans in attendance are invited onto the field following the conclusion of the game to take a group photo, which will be available for purchase.
“The Sun Devil Baseball program and Packard Stadium have given so much to my family and me over the past four years that this is a tremendous privilege and honor,” Hahn said. “I have experienced firsthand how family and community are the things that make collegiate athletics special, and Packard Stadium has represented these same qualities for the past 41 years.”
Hahn graduated this May from the W.P. Carey School of Business with a Bachelor of Arts in business with a concentration in communication. The W. P. Carey School is one of the largest and highest-ranked business schools in the nation, with undergraduate, full-time MBA, part-time MBA and online MBA programs all ranked in the top 30 by U.S. News & World Report.
A highly touted high school baseball player, Hahn was paralyzed from the chest down sliding into second base against New Mexico in the first weekend of his freshman season at Arizona State in 2011. He continued to be an active member of the baseball team after his injury, attending practices, games and events as a student coach, and was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 34th round of the 2013 Major League Draft and is planning on working within the organization in some capacity.
