CLASSIC! ESPN Classic to Re-Air ASU's 8-7 Upset of Nebraska Friday Night

June 22, 2005

OMAHA, Neb. - Many baseball fans in and around Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb., Tuesday night agreed that the thrilling 11 inning, 8-7 comeback victory for Arizona State over No. 3 Nebraska at the College World Series was a classic game. The people at ESPN Classic agreed as well and will re-air the entire contest Friday night at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. Arizona).

Jeff Larish led the ASU charge as he tied a CWS record for home runs in a game with three, including the game-tying shot in the bottom of the ninth inning with two out, to help the Sun Devils upset the favored Huskers and advance to meet No. 7 Florida for a spot in the Championship Series. In the bottom of the 11th inning, freshman J.J. Sferra, who served as the team's bat boy the last time ASU advanced to the CWS, delivered a bloop single to shallow right field that brought in Joey Hooft for the game-winning run.
