TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State’s junior setter Bianca Arellano was selected to participate in the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
The team of 36 athletes will train and compete in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships, from June 21-29 in New Orleans, La.
Arellano is one of five setters selected to the team, and the CNT coaching staff will be named in the coming weeks.
“Bianca has worked hard be included in this group of talented athletes,” head coach Jason Watson said. “The credit for this selection belongs to her and her work ethic and commitment to improvement. She’s a proud Sun Devil and I’m excited she has this opportunity.”
After the training portion of the program, the 36 athletes will be divided into three teams that will compete in a round-robin event June 26-29.
Earlier this month, USA Volleyball announced that ASU’s head coach Watson would coach the Collegiate National Team that will tour China, June 13-26.
During the summer of 2014, then-sophomores Mercedes Binns and Kizzy Willey competed as part of the Collegiate National Team in Minneapolis, Minn.
