TEMPE- The Arizona State men's basketball team will be one of eight schools competing in the 2011 Old Spice Classic Nov. 24, 25 and 27 at the HP Field House at ESPN World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla.
The seven other schools participating in the November tournament include Dayton, DePaul, Fairfield, Indiana State, Minnesota, Texas Tech and Wake Forest. Indiana State earned a bid to the 2011 NCAA Championship, while Dayton and Fairfield were National Invitation Tournament (NIT) participants.
The Classic is a bracket-format tournament and will feature 12 games over the three days, with each team competing in one game per day. The two teams that remain undefeated throughout will play in a championship match Nov. 27.
Notre Dame was the 2010 tournament champion, while Florida State took the title in 2009, followed by Gonzaga in 2008, North Carolina State in 2007 and Arkansas in 2006.
Hosted by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the Classic takes place over Thanksgiving weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort, which allows for the participating teams to enjoy the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks.
