TACOMA, Wash. - Arizona State freshmen Isaiah Festa and Fasil Bizuneh finished third and fourth, respectively, at the 1999 USA Winter Cross Country National Championships, held Sunday in Tacoma, Wash. By virtue of their top six finish, each will represent the United States at the Junior World Championships, March 27-28 in Dublin, Ireland.
Festa (Morro Bay, Calif.) finished in 23:42 with Bizuneh (Indianapolis, Ind.) one second behind as Notre Dames Luke Watson won the race in 23:36. The two freshmen are redshirting the current track and field season, but were one of five freshmen that led ASU to a fourth-place finish at the Pac-10 Cross Country Championships, the best in school history.
