2021-22 Sun Devils Competing as ASU Graduates

BASEBALL
Boyd Vander Kooi, BA Interdisciplinary Studies (Organizational Leadership & Personal Health), 2021
- Vander Kooi, a redshirt senior from Mesa, Arizona, has been a valuable arm in the Sun Devil program. The right hander has spent time as a starter and a bullpen arm, and has delivered in both roles. Vander Kooi did not allow an earned run in six of his ten appearances as a freshman in 2018, and was tied for the team lead with a 3.00 ERA among those with at least 36.0 innings pitched. As a sophomore in 2019, Vander Kooi became the first Sun Devil to to record 11 strikeouts in a game with 7.0 scoreless innings against #3 Stanford. In the shortened 2020 season, Vander Kooi led the team with a 0.70 ERA, good for second in the Pac-12. His 10.0 strikeout to walk ratio was also good for second in the conference in 2020.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Kimani Lawrence, BS Sociology, 2021
- The forward from Rhode Island is in his fifth season in Tempe. Coming into Arizona State as one of Bobby Hurley's most highly anticipated recruits in 2017, a fracture in his foot kept him sidelined until early January. But since the injury, Lawrence has worked hard to get back to the level most expected him to be at. And in 2021, Lawrence posted one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 8.1 points and a career high five rebounds per game. Lawrence cruised to a career high 52.1 field goal percentage on the year. And in the second of two straight double- doubles in 2021, Lawrence became just the tenth Sun Devil to join the 20-20 club with 21 points and 20 rebounds against Washington.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Jade Van Hyfte, BA Interdisciplinary Studies (Personal Health & Integrative Health), 2021
- The senior forward has played in 60 games for the Sun Devils, with 31 career starts. As a freshman she started her collegiate career strong, connecting on 60.6 percent of her shots from the field. Building on that as a sophomore, Van Hyfte led the team with 2.9 offensive rebounds per game and was second on the team with five total rebounds per game. While in Tempe, Van Hyfte has made a name for herself off the court as well. As a sophomore she was named to the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll. 

BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Cierra Flood, BS Psychology, 2021
- A graduate student from right in Phoenix, Flood has had a very productive career as a Sun Devil. In her senior season in 2021 Flood finished with a 12-9 record, good for most wins on the roster. Season highlights included defeating No. 18 Stanford's pair in straight sets, and on senior day taking care of No. 9 Arizona's pair to earn her 50th career win. In the spring of 2021, Flood was named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll. 

FOOTBALL
Kyle Breed, BA Business (Law), 2021
- The redshirt junior from Tuscon, AZ contributed to the team with reps on the scout team.

D.J. Davidson, BS Criminology & Criminal Justice, 2021
- Since his freshman year in 2018, Davidson has taken significant strides forward each season in Tempe. After recording ten total tackles as a freshman, Davidson accounted for 51 total tackles in 13 games in 2019. And despite only playing four games in 2020, Davidson recorded 19 total tackles including one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. The Mesa, Arizona native is returning in the 2021 season as a graduate student.

Timarcus Davis, BA Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology/Integrated Health), 2020
- Since transferring from Baylor and redshirting in 2018, Davis appeared in all but one game for the Sun Devils over the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Davis started the final three games of the shortened 2020 season at corner, and finished with 16 total tackles and five pass breakups, a mark good for a tie with the team lead. 

Erik Dickerson, BS Communication, 2020
- After spending two seasons as the starting long snapper at Scottsdale Community College, Dickerson transferred to ASU where he overtook the long snapping duties. After sitting out a redshirt year in 2018, the Scottsdale native started every game in 2019 and 2020, working as an integral part of the Devils' special teams unit. 

Shannon Forman, BS Criminology & Criminal Justice, 2021
- After arriving in Tempe as a freshman in 2017, Forman quickly became a key rotation piece seeing action in eight games. Since his freshman year Forman's role increased, and he appeared in every game from 2018 through 2020. As a sophomore Forman started the year off in memorable fashion, intercepting a pass and taking it 25 yards for a touchdown in the season opener. In the shortened 2020 season, Forman started three games at defensive end and racked up three tackles against the rival Arizona Wildcats. 

Ralph Frias, BA Interdisciplinary Studies (Criminal Justice & Sociology), 2021
- The Arizona native has proved to be an important part of the offensive line group, contributing on special teams and as a reserve. Frias saw action in all four games of the shortened 2020 campaign. His freshman year, he was awarded the McBurney Offenisive Scout Team MVP. 

Vincenzo Granatelli, BS Political Studies, 2021
- A redshirt transfer from Southern Nazarene University, Granatelli came to Tempe with great size as a defensive back. He saw action in three of the four games in 2020 and recorded a tackle in the win against Oregon State.

Curtis Hodges, BA Liberal Studies, 2021
- Since bursting onto the scene in 2017, the 6'8 standout made his presence known all over the field. With blocked punts against No. 5 Washington and Arizona and a touchdown in his freshman year, Hodges saw his role in the Sun Devil offense gradually increase. As a senior in 2020 Hodges started three games at tight end and snagged a 74-yard touchdown in the Territorial Cup beat down against Arizona. 

Tyler Johnson, BA Liberal Studies, 2020
- After redshirting as a freshman in 2017, Johnson gradually worked his way into a key role on the Devils' strong defensive line. Despite seeing limited time in the first half of the 2018, Johnson continued to battle and eventually recorded four sacks over the final seven weeks of the season. In 2019 Johnson fought through injuries to record 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, and culminated his year with a victory sealing fumble recovery in the Sun Bowl against Florida State. In the four game 2020 season Johnson proved himself to be a menace with two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup. Johnson earned Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week (12/7) honors with a staggering 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks against UCLA. 

Jack Jones, BA Liberal Studies, 2020
- In his first season after transferring from junior college, Jones made an instant impact playing in all 13 games in 2019. Jones racked up 45 tackles, 13 pass breakups, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and was ranked ninth in the country with 16 passes defended. In the short 2020 season Jones appeared in two games and started one, while also earning the starting punt return job.

Chase Lucas, BA Liberal Studies, 2021
- A homegrown product from Chandler High in Arizona, Lucas had an instant impact for the Sun Devils in 2017 racking up 59 total tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception. As a result Lucas' college career started off with a freshman first-team all-American selection by the FWAA. Lucas picked up right where he left off ranking fourth on the team with 62 tackles in 2018. In 2019 Lucas stuffed the stat sheet in 13 starts with a blocked field goal, four pass breakups, an interception, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble. Lucas' 84.7 grade in coverage in 2020 was the highest in the Pac-12 and was 16th-highest in the country. 

Michael Matus, BS Supply Chain Management, 2021
- Matus started his career putting in time on the scout team, and with hard work proved himself as one of the Devils' real pass-rushing threats. As a redshirt sophomore in 2020, Matus started three of four games for the Devils and showed his versatility with two pass breakups as well as a forced and recovered fumble. Matus showed out with three tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack for a safety against UCLA.

Kyle Soelle, BA Business (Communication), 2020
- Soelle has cemented himself as a solid piece on the defense since his redshirt freshman year in 2018 with 15 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks. In 2019 he took a step forward recording 20 tackles and seven quarterback pressures. In 2020 Soelle was named a captain and recorded his first career interception. Soelle also recorded nine tackles in two separate games and finished the year with 26 total, good for second on the team.

Corey Stephens, BA/BS Finance/Business (Communication), 2021
- Stephens has been a versatile piece for the Devils with the ability to play both offensive and defensive line. Stephens' skill set allowed him to give the Devils more depth on both sides of the ball.

HOCKEY
Sean Dhooge, BA Liberal Studies, 2021
- After leading the team in goals and points as a Wisconsin Badger, Dhooge brought his talents to the desert. In his first season with the Sun Devils Dhooge played in 20 of 26 games recording two goals and two assists.

William Knierim, MSLB Sports Law and Business, 2021
- After leaving Miami of OhioKnierim spent a season in the USHL before making his way to Tempe in 2019. Instantly Knierim brought a different prescene to the Devils finishing second on the team with 15 goals and fifth with 24 points. In his second season as a Sun Devil, Knierim had a hot start to the season with seven points in twelve games. He had another stretch of six points through six games against premiere ranked opponents, but an injury sidelined him for ten games.

Bronson Moore, BS Biomedical Sciences, 2021
- Moore put up stellar numbers in his time with the Arizona State Divison I ACHA team, racking up a .909 save percentage and allowing an average of only 3.16 goals per game. Moore earned his first NCAA minutes in the game against No. 1 Minnesota.

Johnny Walker, BA Business (Communication), 2021
- Walker's freshman year could only be described as an offensive explosion. His 17 goals were good for second in the NCAA for goals scored by freshman, and the mark broke the program's freshman scoring record. He appeared in nearly all 32 games for the Devils and ended the year third on the team in total points scored. As a sophomore Walker scored four game-winning goals en route to an NCAA leading 23 goals. He capped off his second-straight, 20-plus goal season to go alongside 18 assists. As a senior in 2020-2021 Walker was named a co-captain before sustaining an injury and missing the first half of the season. He finished strong however averaging a point per game once he returned, finishing the stretch with 4 goals and ten assists.

Jacob Wilson, BS Business Entrepreneurship/Finance, 2021
- Wilson was an "Iron Man" early on in his collegiate career, appearing in every game as a freshman and a sophomore. After racking up 12 points as a freshman in 2017-18, Wilson recorded his first career three point game as a sophomore against No. 6 Penn State. As a junior Wilson doubled his previous best for a season with four multi-point games. His hard work and production earned him a co-captain title as a senior in 2020-2021, where in 22 games Wilson finished with one goal and seven assists. 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Carley Adams, BS Marketing, 2021
- A four year veteran of the Sun Devil Lacrosse program, Adams has been a consistent offensive threat in her time in Tempe. And as the years have passed, Adams' contributions on the field have sizeably increased. After scoring 13 goals in 33 games through her first two seasons, Adams more than doubled her career total with 18 goals in only eight games in 2020. In 2021 Adams was a dominant force, scoring 58 goals while dishing out 19 assists. Her 77 points in 2021 almost doubled her career total of 39 up to that point. Adams also recorded career highs in 2021 with 22 ground balls and 89 shots on goal. Her 3.625 goals per game average in 2021 was the best of her collegiate career by a wide margin. 

Emma Carlson, BA Business (Sports Business), 2021
- After sustaining an injury as a freshman, Carlson battled back to earn her time on the field. Since coming back in 2019, she has scored at least one goal in every season she has played. In 2021, Carlson worked hard to appear in a career high eight games where she recorded two points with a goal and her first career collegiate assist. She also scooped up a career high three ground balls.

Emily Glagolev, BSE Biomedical Engineering, 2021
- In her time as a Sun Devil, Glagolev has been a model of consistency. With 54 career starts, she has started every single game since her freshman year, where she started in 13 of the 18 games she appeared in. While attackers are typically hailed for their offensive achievements, Glagolev made her presence known all over the field. With 72 career ground balls, 22 career caused turnovers, and 34 career draw controls, she has been a valuable asset for the Sun Devils. Over her four years she has still been living up to her role as an attacker, racking up nearly 200 career points. As productive as she's been, she has continued to make her teammates better. In three of her four seasons, she has recorded more assists than goals. 2021 proved to be the best offensive season of her career when she scored 29 goals and dished 38 assists to tally up 67 points, all career high marks. 

Mackenzie Hovsepian, BS Management, 2021
- A persistent and dedicated teammate, Hovsepian has always worked to contribute to the team. She appeared in a game for the Sun Devils in 2021. 

Maddy Hunter, BS Medical Studies, 2021
- The Washington native has spent her time as a Sun Devil putting her versatility on full display. She has recorded at least eight points and scooped up eight ground balls in each of her four seasons. The epitome of a two way midfielder, Hunter kicked her collegiate career off in impressive fashion. Her 13 goals and two assists gave the offense a strong boost, while her 38 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers, and 53 draw controls solidified her as a key member of the defense as well. Since then Hunter has not let up as a two-way star. In 2021 she had her best offensive season with 21 goals and 11 assists while also recording 43 draw controls and 27 ground balls. 

Kylie Kroeger, BS Psychology, 2021
- Since her arrival in 2018, Kroeger instantly began producing for the Sun Devils. The midfielder started all 18 games as a freshman where she recorded 15 points, 16 ground balls, and caused 8 turnovers. While others might specialize in college, Kroeger embraced the challenge of the two-way midfield role. She was a consistent offensive contributor, racking up 15 points in three of four seasons (In the shortened 2020 season she recorded nine points in eight games). And on defense she has done more than hold her own, scooping up 61 career ground balls, causing 25 career turnovers, and recording 82 career draw controls. 

Emily Munro, BA Liberal Studies, 2021
- Munro spent two productive seasons in Eugene as a member of the Oregon Ducks, appearing in 19 games and earning a Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention selection. As a sophomore at Oregon in 2019, she started in 13 games and scored nine goals. Once she made her way to Tempe, Munro became a great offensive contributor. Through 16 games in 2021, she scored 21 goals and dished 2 assists while also scooping up seven ground balls. 

Maria Villanti, BS Political Science, 2021
- Despite arriving in Tempe as a defender, Villanti used her freshman campaign to show off her offensive potential and she ultimately made the switch to midfield. After switching positions, Villanti became a valuable contributor on both sides of the field. Outside of the eight game 2020 season, she recorded at least 10 points and scooped up at least 12 ground balls in each year she played. As a senior in 2021 she set career highs with 15 goals, 16 points, and 12 draw controls. 

Lia Willis, BS Exercise and Wellness, 2021
- Over four seasons, Willis earned lots of playing time excelling in the role of a defensive midfielder. Through her first three years she scooped up 50 ground balls, caused 24 turnovers, and recorded 30 draw controls. As a senior in 2021 she was all over the stat sheet. Willis had the best offensive season of her college career while continuing her strong defense. Her 11 goals and 4 assists for 15 points were all career highs, and still she recorded 16 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers, and a career high 17 draw controls. 

SOCCER
Lara Barbieri Da Silva, BS Exercise and Wellness, 2020
- For an aspiring soccer player, there is perhaps no better place to grow up than Brazil. Barbieri, a Sao Paulo native, was well involved in the game prior to her time as a Sun Devil. She was a midfielder for Associação Atlética Ponte Preta in Brazil, and also competed on the U-15 and U-17 national teams. Since coming to ASU Barbieri has competed hard, earning time in 13 career matches including five starts and an appearance in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament against Siena.

Jessica Hale, BSE Industrial Engineering, 2021
- A local high school standout from Phoenix, Arizona, Hale worked hard over her collegiate career to earn her spot as a defender. Her first career start came as a sophomore in 2018. After lots of hard work her career culminated with a strong senior season. Hale appeared in all 17 games for the Sun Devils with 15 starts, and wrapped up the season with a whopping 1400 minutes played. 

Olivia Kearse-Thomas, BS Exercise and Wellness, 2020
- Kearse-Thomas, a product of Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, did not take long to start making her presence known for the Sun Devils. She started in 18 of the 19 games she appeared in as a freshman, a season highlighted with her first career collegiate goal against Ohio State, and a season-high 110 minutes played against Utah. Despite entering college as a forward, Kearse-Thomas began the transition to a defensive-back at the end of her freshman year. As a sophomore she continued to work to grow as a defender while still contributing as a forward. Over her junior and senior seasons Kearse-Thomas appeared in 27 games with 11 starts. She made her imact felt as a forward her senior year with 11 of her 21 shots being fired on goal. She finished the year with three goals, two assists, eight points, and a goal in the NCAA Tournament First Round matchup against Siena.

SOFTBALL
Halle Harger, BS Health Sciences (Lifestyle/Fitness Science), 2021
- After a productive freshman year at Boise State with 25 starts in 38 appearances and two grand slams, Harger spent her offseason undergoing cancer treatment in Los Angeles. In August of 2018, Harger announced the good news that she was officially cancer free and would play her sophomore season for the Broncos. She appeared in seven games before deciding to sit out the remainder of the season, and before her junior year she opted for a change of scenery. In her first season as a Sun Devil Harger started eight of the 15 games she appeared in before the season was cut short due to the pandemic. She racked up a .571 slugging percentage and a .536 on-base percentage. Her seven RBIs led all non-starters. Harger saw an increased role as a redshirt junior in 2021, appearing in 25 games and starting 18. She racked up three doubles and eight RBI's posting a .250 batting average.

Bella Loomis, BS Family and Human Development, 2021
- A notable play maker from Chandler, Arizona's Hamilton High, Loomis decided to keep it close and bring her talents to Tempe. The infielder instantly made an impact appearing in 43 games with 28 starts, posting a .964 fielding percentage while going a perfect three-for-three on stolen base attempts. As a sophomore in 2019 Loomis took a big step forward starting every game at second base. After not hitting a home run a a freshman, Loomis sent 10 balls over the fence, and led the team with two 5+ RBI games. While her junior season was cut short, Loomis posted career highs with a .322 batting average and a .475 on-base percentage. In 2021 Loomis continued to produce both ways with a .931 fielding percentage and 12 stolen bases. Her 21 walks tied her career high from her sophomore year. 

MEN'S SWIMMING/DIVING
Evan Carlson, BSE Mechanical Engineering, 2021
- Carlson came to the Sun Devils as a highly decorated prep athlete from Portland. Since arriving in Tempe, Carlson has continued shine. As a freshman in 2017-18 his second place finish with the 800 free relay team earned him a spot on the podium at the Pac-12 Championship and an All-American Honorable Mention. As a sophomore in 2018-19, Carlson chalked up wins in the 50 and 100 free against Florida State and USC, and aganinst rival Arizona he placed first in the 50 free and second in the 100 free. Carlson repeated much of his success as a junior in 2019-20, recording wins in the 50 and 100 free against Utah, USC, Northwestern, Stanford, and earning a second place finish in the 50 free against Arizona. He won the first eight events he sawm in as a junior. Carlson currently holds two of the top-10 times in program history, one in the 50 free and one in the 100 free, and is a two-time Pac-12 All Academic honoree. 

Carter Swift, BS Exercise and Wellness, 2021
- A native of Melbourne, Australia, Swift competed for Team New Zealand at the Oceania Games in 2018 winning gold in the 100 free and 50 fly. His college career began at Eastern Michigan, where as a freshman in 2017-18 he won Freshman of the Year, MAC Swimmer of the Year, and was a conference champion in the 100 free and 200 free. As a sophomore in 2018-19 Swift made the switch to the Sun Devils, winning the 100 free against both Stanford and Arizona. He competed at the NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships in the 50 and 100 free. In 2019-20 Swift placed second in the 100 free at the Wolfpack Invitational, but had a strong season overall in the event winning against USC, Northwestern, and Stanford. Against the rival Arizona Wildcats, Swift won both the 50 and 100 free. 

WOMEN'S SWIMMING/DIVING
Nora Deleske, BS Justice Studies, 2021
- As a freshman on 2017-18 Deleske quickly rose to be one of the team's top swimmers, swimming the team's two top times in the 200 fly, recording ASU's ninth fastest time in the 400 IM, and swimming ASU's ninth and tenth times in the 100 breast. After helping the Sun Devils beat No. 22 Arizona for the first time in 25 years, she was named the Pac-12 Women's Swimmer of the Week. As a sophomore she continued to contribute, winning the 200 breast against Cal and UCLA, and placing third in the 200 breast against Arizona. She scored points for the Sun Devils in the 200 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships. As a junior in 2019-20 
she earned a flurry of top-three finishes in multiple events over the course of the year. Her success in the 200 breast, 400 IM, 200 IM, and 100 breast (among many other events) earned her a podium spot against Utah, USC, UCLA, Northwestern, Kansas, Stanford, Cal, Texas, and Arizona. At the 2020 Pac-12 Championships she put up points for the Sun Devils with top-ten finishes in the 400 IM and the 200 IM.

Erica Laning, BS Communication, 2021
- Made serious contributions to the team as a freshman, swimming two of ASU's top-10 times in the 200 free and the 500 free. She took another step forward as a sophomore with wins in the 200 free against Florida State and UCLA, and a win in the 100 free against Oregon State. She also represented the Sun Devils at the Pac-12 Championships in the 100 free, 200 free, and 500 free. The next year as a junior she racked up the podium appearances with top three finishes against Utah, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Texas, and Arizona. Against Northwestern she earned three podium finishes with a win in the 200 free, second in the 500 free, and third in the 100 free. Against Kansas she swept both the 100 and 200 free events. 

Emma Nordin, BS Biological Sciences (Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior), 2021
- Since arriving on campus Nordin has solidified her place as one of the Sun Devils' elite swimmers. Her freshman year alone she swam the three of the team's top-10 fastest times in the 200 free, the sixth fastest time in the 500 free and the 1000 free, and two top-4 times in the 1650 free. She dominated the 500 free as a sophomore with wins against Oregon State, USC, Florida State, and Washington State. She also snagged wins in the 1000 free against Washington State and Cal. She represented the Sun Devils in the Pac-12 Championships and had top-five finishes in the 500 free and mile, and competed at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in the 200 free, 500 free, and a ninth place finish in the mile. As a junior she proved even more dominant winning both the 500 and 1000 free against USC, UCLA, and Northwestern, and earned a win in the 500 free against Cal, and a 1000 free win against Utah. She won the 200, 500, and 1000 free against Texas and Arizona. Her season culminated with her first ever Pac-12 Championship in the 500 free, and finished second in the mile and 200 free. 

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Adam Meyer, BA Business (Sports Business), 2021
- In his time at ASU Meyer, a local prep star from Mesa, has excelled in both indoor and outdoor events. His first win as a Sun Devil was a personal best in the indoor 800-meter. In his freshman outdoor season, Meyer competed in the Pac-12 Championships racing a personal best in the 800-meter, and earned his first career all-conference honors as a member of the 4x400 relay team. He competed in the Pac-12 Championships again as a sophomore, setting a new personal best in the outdoor 800 meter. In his junior indoor season Meyer ran the 600 meter for only the second time in his college career, but still found a way to finish third and set a personal best. He also earned 2020 MPSF All-Academic honors. Meyer cruised in his senior indoor season, finishing top-10 in every event he competed in and setting a new personal best in the mile at the Texas Tech Invitational with a 4:28.43. 

Ian Schulz, BA Interdisciplinary Studies (Entrepreneurship and Innovation & Sales and Marketing Essentials), 2021
- Schulz started off his collegiate career finishing top-10 in all but one indoor shot put event. In 2018-19, his first outdoor season, Schulz finished top-five in every discus event he competed in, and threw a personal best in his first Pac-12 Championships as a Sun Devil. Schulz also competed in both the shot put and discus throw at the NCAA Division 1 West Region Preliminary. In the 2019-20 indoor season, Schulz threw a personal best in the shot put to earn a second place finish at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, and finished fifth at the MPSF Indoor Track and & Field Championships. After not being able to compete due to the pandemic, Schulz's 2020-21 outdoor season was easily his strongest as a Sun Devil. He finished second in the shot put at the GCU Invitational, and at the Willie Williams Classic/Dave Murray Distance Carnival he matched his personal best in the shot put to earn a silver medal, while also finishing third in the discus throw. He took second in the discus throw with a PR at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson. And with a seventh place finish at the NCAA prelims, Schulz made it to the NCAA Championships where he finished tenth. The top-10 finish in the discus was enough to earn Schulz Second Team All-America Honors. 

Turner Washington, BS Biological Sciences (Conservation Biology and Ecology), 2020
- Despite starting his collegiate career at the school down south, Washington will be remembered as one of the greatest Sun Devil athletes to don the maroon and gold. In the 2019-20 indoor season, Washington won the shot put at the Lumberjack Invitational and the New Mexico Invitational. At the NAU Friday Night Duals, Washington won the shot put by 10 feet. He was one of Six Sun Devil men selected to the MPSF All-Academic team and earned Pac-12 spring honor roll honors in June of 2020. His success in the shot put was recognized with USTFCCCA 2020 Indoor All-America honors. After the pandemic put competition on hold, Washington had a season to remember in 2020-21. He started his indoor campaign with a new PR in the shot put, a throw good enough to break the meet and facility record at the Texas Tech Invitational and move him to second all-time at ASU. His final throw at the Texas Tech Shootout set a new NCAA indoor shot put record and moved him up to No. 1 on the ASU top-10 indoor list for the event. Washington became a National Champion in the shot put at the NCAA Division I Indoor National Championships with a fifth round throw of 21.36 m/70'1". His dominance continued into the 2020-21 outdoor season. After not competing in discus since 2018, Washington broke the program discus record, and then topped the new mark twice that same season. He was named the USTFCCCA National Male Athlete of the Week three separate weeks, and was ultimately named the USTFCCCA National Male Athlete of the Year. He won the outdoor shot put with a new PR at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to earn his second NCAA title of the season. With 63.42 m throw in the discus, he earned his third NCAA title and became the third male in NCAA history to win the indoor and outdoor shot put titles and the discus title in the same year. Washington went on to be named a finalist for The Bowerman, the most prestigious award award given to the NCAA's top men and women's track and field athletes. 

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Cortney Jones, BS Sociology, 2020
- Jones arrived at ASU from Florida State already a decorated collegiate athlete. In 2019-20, her first season as a Sun Devil, Jones finished top-five in every indoor race she competed in. She also finished fourth at the USA Indoor Championships.

Beatrice Llano, BA Interdisciplinary Studies (Personal Health & Tourism Development and Management), 2021
- After starting her college career at Georgia, Llano started off her career as a Sun Devil in 2018-19 with all-conference indoor honors with a third place finish in the weight throw at the MPSF Championships. In the 2018-19 outdoor season Llano dominated the hammer throw, leading the NCAA in the event for the entirety of the regular season and moved to No. 2 in school history. In her first meet as a Sun Devil she set a personal best with a 71.43 m throw which moved her into top-10 in NCAA history in the event. She took third in the Pac-12 Championships and fought through injury to finish seventh in the hammer throw at the NCAA Championships, good for her second first-team All-American honor. In the 2020-21 outdoor season she picked up right where she left off finishing top-three in four events during the regular season, with two wins. After finishing fifth in the hammer throw with a season best 68.78 m throw at the NCAA Championships, Llano earned her third career first-team All-American honor.

TRIATHLON
Hannah Henry, BS Business Entrepreneurship, 2021
- Henry, a Canadian native, arrived in Tempe and wasted no time ascending the national leader boards. As a freshman in 2017-18, she finished first in her first ever collegiate race, the Central Regional Qualifier. She was named the Central Division I All-Region Freshman and was also named to the All-Region team before going on to win her first individual national championship after taking first in the CSAT Collegiate National Championship in Tempe. Her first year success was recognized with USA Triathlon Division I Freshman of the Year and Division I All-American honors. As a sophomore in 2018-19 she kept pace, taking first in the West Regional Qualifier and helping the Devils qualify for nationals. She was named to the CTCA West All-Region team before going on to win her second consectuve individual national championship and CTCA Division I All-American honors. In the summer prior to her junior season, Henry competed in the Pan Am Games before returning to Tempe. Once back competing for the Devils, Henry took first at the East Regional Qualifier and was named a CTCA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention.

Kyla Roy, BSW Social Work, 2021
- After beginning her athletic career as a swimmer Roy made the switch triathlon, becoming the youngest athlete to compete in triathlon at the Canadian Summer Games. Her impact was felt immediately as she racked up top-three finishes in the Central Regional Qualifier, East Regional Qualifier, and USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships. In addition to high finishes, Roy racked up the honors in 2017-18. She was named to the Eastern and Central Division I All-Region teams, named the Division I All-Region Freshman, named a USA Triathlon Division I All-American, a CTCA Academic All-American, and the USA Triathlon Collegiate Athlete of the Year. As a sophomore she competed again in the USAT Collegiate National Championships, finishing fourth, and was named a CTCA Academic All-American for the second consecutive year. In her 2019-20 junior season, Roy took first in the Central and West Regional Qualifiers on her way to her first ever individual title with a first place finish at the National Championship. Meanwhile away from competition, she earned a third consecutive CTCA Academic All-American nod.

WATER POLO
Amira Van Buren, BSW Social Work, 2021
- Van Buren arrived on Campus with a bang, being one of six freshman named to the All-MPSF Newcomer Team. From Feb. 25-March 10 Van Buren went on a run scoring in four consecutive games. Her highlight of the season came at the ASU Invitational, where she dominated her way to six goals in three matches. As a sophomore in 2019 Van Buren continued to shine, grinding her way to a 24 goal campaign. She racked up seven multi-goal games back-to-back two-goal games against Indiana and San Jose State at the MPSF Championships. Her hard work out of the pool earned her All-Academic Team honors. As a junior the dominance continued. Van Buren scored in 15 of ASU's 17 games with 12 multi-goal performances. She led the way with a career high six goals in a 14-7 win over No. 13 San Jose State. 

WRESTLING
Anthony Valencia, MLST Liberal Studies (Film and Media Studies), 2021 
- Valencia came to Tempe regarded as the No. 1 wrestling recruit in 2015 and lived up to the hype. As a redshirt freshman Valencia recorded the Sun Devils' fourth and fifth fastest pins of the season en route to a Pac-12 Championship. He competed at the NCAA Championships finishing with a record of 2-2 and qualified for the USA World Team Trials where he finished fourth all on his way to being named the Sun Devil Newcomer of the year. Going into his redshirt sophomore season, Valencia was ranked top-10 in four separate preseason polls. He qualified for the NCAA Championships with two pins and a victory in the Pac-12 Championship. After sitting out the 2018-19 season, Valencia bounced back with a First Team All-American season. He rode a nine match win streak towards the end of the year on his way to a third Pac-12 championship, making him the 18th wrestler in program history to achieve such a feat. As a redshirt senior in 2020-21 Valencia did not let up. He started ranked top-five in three of four preseason polls and posted a 10-0 regular season record, tying for the team lead in pins. He defeated the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the Pac-12 Championship finals to become the fourth ASU wrestler to win four conference titles, and for the second consecutive season he was honored as an All-American.
