TEMPE, Ariz. - The 12th-ranked Arizona State women's tennis team fell to No. 13 Southern California, 5-4, Friday at Marks Stadium on the Campus of USC.
Unranked Allison Bradshaw upset No. 13 Ditta Huber of USC in the number one singles position. Bradshaw avenged her previous two losses to Huber in the Fall, with a two set sweep 7-5, 6-4. Senior Katy Propstra improved her record to 10-4 with a three set victory over Veronica Safarova, 6-3, 6-7, 6-0. No. 61 Sun Devils' Kerry Giardino defeated Krissy Hamilton-Heinberg, 6-3, 6-2. That was the second time that the two had met in the early season with Giardino winning both contests.
The score was tied at three apiece heading into doubles. ASU only managed one victory at the number three doubles. Faye DeVera and Giardino defeated Jacqui Boyd and Hamilton-Heinberg, 8-4.
Arizona State will play the No. 8 UCLA Bruins Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA was a 7-2 winner over No. 24 Arizona Friday afternoon.
