Women's Tennis Beats Washington State

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The eighth-ranked Arizona State women's tennis team defeated Washington State 8-1 today at the Whiteman Tennis Center on the ASU campus.

The Sun Devils (6-0; 2-0 Pac-10 South) jumped out to an early 5-1 lead over the Cougars (0-4 overall) after singles. Alison Nash defeated Erica Perkins, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, and improved to 5-1 in dual match action. Nash has recorded victories in her last four matches. Freshman Celena McCoury improved to 12-4 on the season defeating Melissa Pine, 6-1, 6-2. Reka Cseresnyes, Katy Propstra, and Kerry Giardino each notched victories for the Sun Devils as well. Tunde Nagy earned the Cougars point, defeating Karin Palme, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

In doubles play, ASU's top pair of Stephanie Lansdorp and Propstra earned their tenth victory of the season after defeating the Cougars duo of Perkins and Andrea Reisz, 8-0. Cseresnyes and Palme maintained their undefeated status in doubles play as they beat Tamara Filipovic and Patrycja Gadzik, 8-5.
