WALNUT CREEK, Calif.—For the second-straight season, the Arizona State women’s golf team places its entire line-up on the Pac-12 All-Academic team, the conference announced Thursday. Senior Daniela Ordonez highlights the first-team honors for the third-consecutive year, the only Pac-12 golfer in the class to accomplish the feat.
Ordonez, who holds a 3.86 GPA, is a double major studying for a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Business with a certificate in sustainability. Also earning first-team honors are juniors Noemi Jimenez and Emilie Alonso. Jimenez, a Pac-12 first-team All-Conference selection, holds a 3.82 GPA in Business and Interdisciplinary Studies and finished the 2014 season with the third-lowest scoring average of any golfer in the nation. Alonso, who majors in Communications, holds a 3.64 cumulative GPA through her three years at Arizona State.
Senior Justine Lee earned second-team All-Academic honors with a 3.56 GPA in Exercise and Wellness. Lee recorded the two lowest rounds for the Sun Devils with a 2-under 68 in rounds two and four at the NCAA Championships to help Arizona State finish in fifth place. Senior Laura Blanco was named to the honorable mention team with a 3.24 GPA in communications.
The Sun Devils placed the most athletes in the conference on the first and second teams at four and are tied with California and Washington State with a total of five golfers honored by the Pac-12. In 2013-14, women’s golf recorded the highest GPA for Sun Devil Athletics.
Only athletes with sophomore academic standing and above qualify for the All-Academic team.
