Two Sun Devils Sign Pro Baseball Contracts

TEMPE, Ariz. - Two Arizona State baseball players have signed professional baseball contracts, the school announced today. Infielder Seth Dhaenens has inked a deal with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, while RHP Brady Martinez has agreed to terms with the New York Yankees. Both leave Arizona State following their junior seasons.

Dhaenens (Chandler, Ariz.) finishes his Sun Devil career having appeared in 142 games over three seasons. He batted .290 in his college career, belting three home runs and knocking in 59 runs. He was a key member of the 2005 College World Series team, the same season he earned All-Pac-10 and Academic All-Pac-10 honorable mentions. He hit .295 in 43 games for ASU this past season, playing in the infield as well as at catcher.

Martinez (Price, Utah) spent one season in Tempe after transferring from the University of Utah. He led the Sun Devils in appearances this season, throwing in 32 games. He was a perfect 4-0 on the year, in addition to picking up two saves. He finished the year with a 4.36 ERA, striking out 55 batters while walking only 19 in 43.1 innings of work.
