Three Sun Devil Swimmers Chosen to Compete in the Japan International Grand Prix

Three members of the Arizona State swim team are to compete in the Japan International Grand Prix in Chiba, Japan. Seniors Caitlin Andrew and CJ Nuess, along with alumnus Nick Brunelli were chosen to compete in the prestigious meet. The meet begins Aug. 21 and concludes on Aug. 24.

NCAA All-American Andrew qualified for the meet in the 100 meter fly. After qualifying for her first "A" final at USA Nationals, she finished eighth overall with a personal best time of 59.48 in the 100 fly.

Nuess will be competing in the 400 IM at the Grand Prix. The senior from CITY, Wash., also recently enjoyed success at the USA Nationals in which he won his "B" final to place ninth overall, touching in at 4:21.65.

Brunelli is set to race in two events, the 50 and 100 meter freestyle. The former four-time All-American for ASU finished third in both events at the USA Nationals, clocking times of 22.09 and 49.04 respectively.
