TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Freshman Ray Clark threw a four-hitter as Texas eliminated Miami of Ohio 11-1 Saturday night in the NCAA West Regional. The victory put the Longhorns (42-19) into the championship game against host Arizona State (44-13).
The Sun Devils beat Texas 3-1 earlier Saturday and are undefeated in the double-elimination tournament.
Texas will have to beat Arizona State twice Sunday to advance to next week's super regional and a shot at a College World Series berth.
Clark struck out 10 in his first career complete game. Tom Yost's homer with two outs in the ninth inning spoiled his shutout bid.
Miami of Ohio, which eliminated Creighton 6-3 in Saturday's first game, ended its season with a 40-22 record.
Tommy Nicholoson, Ben Emond and Sam Anderson all drove in two runs for Texas while Todd West went 4-for-6 with an RBI and Ryan Hubele 4-for-5 with an RBI.
