Ten Sun Devil Soccer Players Earn Pac-12 Academic Recognition

TEMPE, Ariz. - Ten Sun Devil soccer players were recognized by the Pac-12 for their work in the classroom as the conference announced its annual All-Academic Teams.

Headlining ASU’s 10 selections are juniors Cali Farquharson (3.67 – Biological Sciences) and Whitney Kanavel (3.74 - Psychology), who both earned second-team honors. It’s the second Pac-12 academic award for Farquarson (earned first-team honors last season) and the first for Kanavel.

The Sun Devils also had eight players earn honorable mention recognition: seniors Jessica Domenichelli (second time) and Chandler Morris (second time); juniors Tommi Goodman (second time), Rachel Ometer (first time), Mackenize Semerad (first time) and Sara Tosti (second time), redshirt sophomore Alyssa Martinez (second time) and sophomore Mckenzie Grossman (first time) and  

To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average, must have been at the school at least one year and be either a starter, significant contributor to the team (defined as participating in at least 50 percent of a team’s games) or be a member of the team whose season was cut short due to injury.

The Sun Devils, who earned a 3.41 GPA as a team in 2013-14, were also recognized by the NSCAA in being named one of the recipients of the organization’s annual team academic award.
