- A four-year competitor for the La Quinta High School wrestling team, Calderon was team captain from 2011 to 2013.
- A four-time Desert Valley league champion, Calderon was a three-time CIF finalist, and finished eighth in the California State Championships.
- Posted a high school record of 163-37, with 75 career pins.
- An NHSCA Academic All-American, Calderon was his High School Athlete of the Year and Valley Wrestler of the Year.
- Graduated with honors and received the National Merit Achievement Award.
