Coming back for her final season as a Sun Devil, Dani Rae Lougheed will look to step up to take a bigger role in the 2011 season after a 2010 season which saw her hit .333 on the year with two runs scored and a .400 on base percentage. Lougheed came back strong after a 2009 season riddled with injuries. In 2008, Dani Rae played in eight games with a .455 batting average, while scoring three runs. Her .636 slugging percentage also showed promise and prowess at the plate, as she used the 2008 season to continue strengthening and recovering from two brain surgeries her senior year of high school.
Helping to round out the outfield, Dani Rae is also another in-state product. A 2007 graduate of Scottsdale Christian Academy, Lougheed was a four-time letterwinner in both softball and volleyball as well as a letterwinner in track & field. She captained both the softball and volleyball teams and was named All-State in softball 2004-2007 and All-Region in softball 2004-2007 as well as All-State in volleyball in 2005. She was also a member of the National Honor Society in high school as well. No stranger to adversity, Dani Rae was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent two brain surgeries and now looks to return to the sport stronger than ever.
A communication and international business major, Dani Rae was born on February 2, 1989 in Scottsdale, Ariz. to Gregory (wireless technician) and Carey (massage therapist) Lougheed of Scottsdale. She is the second of three children with an older sister Shalyn (23) and a younger brother Logan (16). Her full name is Danielle Rae Lougheed.
