SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Arizona State men’s golfers Ben Shur and Max Rottluff earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Wednesday. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team’s scheduled regular season events.
Earning First Team All-Academic honors, Shur graduated in May with a 3.78 GPA in Liberal Studies. Competing in eight tournaments in his final season as a Sun Devil, Shur shot a career-low 67 in the first round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic this spring. Capping off his collegiate career, Shur caddied for teammate Jon Rahm in the 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Rahm finished tied for fifth with Martin Laird and finished at (-12) for the tournament.
Rottluff earned second-team honors for the second straight year. The junior has a 3.47 GPA and is majoring in business at ASU. Rottluff had a standout season for the Sun Devils, which culminated in earning GCAA First Team All-American honors. He notched nine top-10 finishes, including individual titles at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational and the Arizona Intercollegiate. Ranked fourth in the nation according to Golfstat, Rottluff shot a career-low 65 in the second round of the Arizona Intercollegiate. Rottluff’s 69.81 scoring average ranks second on the squad.
Only athletes with sophomore academic standing and above qualify for the All-Academic team.
