
Hruza comes to Tempe with a wide range of knowledge, coaching experience and business savvy. Prior to arriving in the Valley of the Sun, the Hungarian native won consecutive Big Ten Championships (2008, 2009) as head coach of the Michigan State Men's Water Polo Team and won the National Collegiate Club Championship in 2008. Following a 4th place finish at the Collegiate National Championship in 2009, he was named `09 Big Ten Coach of the Year. Last year, in his only season as head coach of the Michigan State Women's Water Polo Team, Hruza finished second in the Big Ten.
With more than 15 years experience as a water polo coach, trainer and competitor, Hruza was head coach of the U16 US Olympic Development Program Midwest Girl's Team from 2009 to 2010, assisted the U16 Hungarian Girl's National Team in 2008 and is currently a Regional Olympic Development Coach for the USA.
As a player, Hruza was called up to the Orvosegyetem Sport Club's (OSC) Senior Team at age 17. He was a member of OSC from 1989-1996 and played for Ferencvarosi Torna Club (FTC) between 1985 and 1989.
