TEMPE, Ariz.- Sun Devil Swimming Head Coach Bob Bowman was named the head coach of the U.S. Men's team for the 2023 World Aquatics Championships (formerly FINA), USA Swimming announced in January.

Bowman will lead the U.S. Men in the long-course meters competition that is set to begin on Sunday and will go through July 30 in Fukuoka, Japan. Carol Capitani has been tabbed to lead the U.S. Women.

Bowman has previously been the U.S. men's head coach at the 2007, 2009 and 2013 FINA World Championships. He also served on the U.S. staff for the previous five Olympic Games (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020), in which he was the head coach in Rio.

Going into his ninth season with the Sun Devils in 2023-24, Bowman has ushered the ASU program into the national spotlight. Last season, the Sun Devil Men earned the No. 1 ranking in the country for the first time in program history and they were the runner-ups at the NCAA Championships with both of those being program-bests. In March, the men's stormed to their first Pac-12 Championship in program history where they won nine races and broke eight school records.

Léon Marchand became ASU's first national champion in the Bowman era in 2021-22, winning the the 200 breast and 200 IM in his freshman season. In 2023, he repeated as the 200 breast and IM NCAA champion and won his fifth national championship in two years in the 400 IM. Across both the men's and women's programs, there were nine Pac-12 champions in 2023.
