PHOENIX – Two pairs picked up match wins as Sun Devil Beach Volleyball dropped both of its matches on Thursday against No. 8 Grand Canyon and No. 18 Stanford on the GCU beach courts.
Senior Katelyn Carballo and sophomore Lexi Sweeney took down GCU's top pair in three sets for their first match of the day. That win tied Carballo for the most individual wins in program history with 61. This weekend she will have four shots at taking sole possession.
In a new pairing, senior Samantha Plaster and freshman Lila Bordis played at the No. 5 spot, beating Stanford's No. 5 duo in three sets.
