TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devil Lacrosse program prepares to host the inaugural Alumni & Friends Scrimmage at 10 A.M. MST on Sunday, October 13th at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.

This will be the first chance for Sun Devil fans to see the 2020 Sun Devil Lacrosse team in action, as Coach McCormack is thrilled to welcome back a pair of alumni and two friends of the program to compete with the current roster. Three 30-minute games will take place with Coach McCormack and his staff putting together three different Alumni/Friends rosters for each. The Scrimmage is the last of three events that are a part of Arizona State Lacrosse's Alumni & Friends Weekend, which includes a team banquet and the Sun Devil Football game against Washington State on Saturday.

The remaining members of the roster will face-off with these respective teams in a 30-minute game. This format gives Coach McCormack and his staff an opportunity to evaluate each individual in different situations and experiment with different lineup combinations. The young Sun Devils get a unique chance to play with and against experienced athletes that have competed at a high level in the sport.

The first two seniors in program history, Sydney Bosmans and Rachel Gregory, return to Arizona State for this inaugural event. The duo helped lay the foundation for Sun Devil Lacrosse, appearing in 57 games and making a combined 37 starts over the past two seasons. They picked up 58 ground balls, caused 24 turnovers, and earned 40 draw controls in their career as key pieces of the Sun Devil defensive unit. The pair made an impact on and off the field, both earning a spot on the 2018 IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll.

The Coaching Staff is also excited to host Alyssa Guido and Brooke Jones, two friends of the program who will be playing with the Sun Devils. The current Head Coach of the Women's Lacrosse team at Maritime College, Guido was a teammate of Arizona State Assistant Coach Dorrien Van Dyke at Stony Brook University. The pair played together for four seasons at Stony Brook, winning the America East Conference Championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament each year. Jones was a goalkeeper at Northwestern University, playing her final two seasons under the tutelage of Coach McCormack, who was hired as the Wildcats' Assistant Coach prior to the 2014 season.

The combination of an experienced returning group and talented freshman class will be on display for the first time on Sunday, giving fans a glimpse of the future of Sun Devil Lacrosse. Second Team Pac-12 All-Conference selections Kerri Clayton and Emily Glagolev come back to Tempe, as does Berkeley Bonneau, who finished fifth in the country with 194 saves. The Sun Devils bring back a freshman class that made an instant impact, compiling 64 points (39 goals & 25 assists), 117 ground balls, 51 caused turnovers, and 66 draw controls while starting a total of 72 games.

In just the program's third year of existence, Coach McCormack's group is hungry and motivated to continue improving. The Sun Devils continue their Fall schedule with a trip to Colorado, participating at the Denver Play Day on Saturday, October 26. They wrap up the exhibition portion of their schedule with a matchup with fellow Pac-12 member Colorado on Sunday, October 27.
