TEMPE, Ariz. – College Football Hall of Fame Inductee Danny White, who led Arizona State to three consecutive bowl games and led the NFL's Dallas Cowboys to five consecutive playoff appearances as their starting quarterback, is remaining with the Arizona State football program for his second season as an offensive consultant and as an Ambassador in conjunction with Sun Devil Athletics and the Sun Devil Club, as announced today by Arizona State Head Football Coach Herm Edwards and the Sun Devil Club.
"I am thrilled to announce that Danny White will remain a part of the Arizona State football program" says Edwards.  "Not only is Danny a great Sun Devil, he is an even better person with outstanding character. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the staff."
White was the Sun Devil starting quarterback from 1971-73. Playing for legendary head coach Frank Kush, White was part of three Western Athletic Conference Championship teams, compiling a combined record of 32-4. In addition, White led ASU to victories in the first three Fiesta Bowls. He was selected First-Team All-America in 1973 by Time Magazine, Football Writers and NEA and Second-Team All-America the same year by United Press International and Associated Press.
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to help get ASU football where it belongs, and that is at the top of the Pac-12," says White. "I understand so much more now than I did a year ago as a consultant.I am excited to work with Coach Rob Likens and Coach Herm Edwards.  Coach Edwards and I were contemporaries in the NFL and I think he is the perfect man for this job." While at ASU, White set seven NCAA passing records, and was named the second highest rated college quarterback of all time by Sports Illustrated. White was a member of the inaugural class inducted into the ASU Sports Hall of Fame in 1975.

Following two seasons with the World Football League Memphis Southmen, White joined the Cowboys. He took over as Dallas' starting quarterback in 1980, establishing a then-franchise record for touchdown passes in a season (29). White guided the Cowboys to three consecutive appearances in the NFC Championship Game in his first three years as the starter.

Following his playing career, White was named the first head coach and general manager of the Arena Football League Arizona Rattlers. Under his leadership, the Rattlers earned five berths in the league's championship game (ArenaBowl), winning the championship in 1994 and 1997. He finished his coaching career with a 141-65 won-loss record, and was inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame in 2002.

Currently, White serves as an analyst for Cowboys games on Compass Media Networks.
