TEMPE, Ariz. - Sun Devil swim/dive will be announcing their signees for the class of 2018 periodically here as each student-athlete is confirmed by the Sun Devil Athletics compliance office. The men's recruiting class was recently ranked No. 3 in the nation behind Texas and Florida.

Cody Bybee (Free/Fly/Back | Bellbrook HS/Bellbrook, Ohio)
A four-time state champion, twice in the 200 free and 100 fly (2016, 2017), Cody Bybee set a new state record in both events as well as the 100 free in the last two seasons. He currently holds school records in the 50, 100, 200, and 500 free and the 100 and 200 fly. He competed at Olympic trials recently, at Junior Pan Pacific Championships, and won a gold medal and set a new junior world record in the 4x100m medley at Junior World Championships with Team USA.
 
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "I'm looking forward to being a part of an amazing team and school in paradise under the best coach in the world. Also, pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams while receiving world class coaching and education."
 
On why he chose ASU: "I chose ASU because it was everything I wanted and more. It blew away my expectations and I know things are only going to get better. The swimming opportunities are unparalleled with Coach Bowman heading the program. The school itself offers world class academics, especially in business. It's located in paradise, walking around in December with palm trees is amazing. The overall university and team culture fits my personality perfectly and I couldn't be more excited for the next four years of my life."

Jakob Icimsoy (IM/Fly/Back/Free | Everest Academy Homeschool/Vestavia Hills, Ala.)
A two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American (2016, 2017), Icimsoy also won the Leadership Award (2017), the Coaches Award (2015, 2016), and has served as a three-year team captain (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18). One of his most exciting moments thus far in swimming was qualifying for Summer Junior Nationals and Winter Nationals in the 200 back and winning the Southeastern LSC championship title.
 
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "I'm looking forward to continued hard work as a member of the fastest rising team in the NCAA so I can contribute as much as I can. Also, being a student at the W.P. Carey School of Business will allow me to continue to develop my knowledge and skills in the business world."
 
On why he chose ASU: "It was an easy decision for me to choose Arizona State. A world-class coaching staff, an enthusiastic and supportive team, a prestigious business school, and great weather 12 months a year put the school number one on my list. The opportunity for excellence at Arizona State is unmatched and I'm glad to be part of such a great university."

Ethan Luc (Free | Westview HS/Portland, Ore.)
Ethan Luc won a state championship in the 100 free in 2017 and counts his most exciting moment in sports thus far as winning relays with his teammates. He intends on majoring in chemistry at ASU.
 
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "Being able to be a part of college swimming, representing my school, and taking the next step in my life."
 
On why he chose ASU: "ASU has good academics and I also loved the coaches and team."

Noah Henry (Back/Fly/Free | Belton HS/Belton, Texas)
Henry comes from a long line of collegiate swimmers and athletes, including his parents, Patrick and Wendy, who swam for Texas A&M and Texas, respectively, as well as his siblings, sister Savannah (Southern Illinois swim) and brother Hayden (Texas swim). He's currently serving as team captain at Belton High School and earned District MVP honors.

Lizzy Spears (IM/Breast | Saline HS/Saline, Mich.)
Lizzy Spears is a four-time All-Conference, All-State, and All-American and has six school records (200 IM, 100 breast, 100 fly, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 400 free relay). She received the Excellence in Business Award (2014) and is a four-time honoree of the Silver Honor Roll Award (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017). During her junior season, she and her 400 free relay team won at the state championship and broke the D1 state record.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "I'm looking forward to being on a fast-growing team with great people and a world-renowned coaching staff."
 
On why she chose ASU: "I chose ASU because I have always dreamed of attending such a beautiful and successful school. I toured the campus at 11 years old with my uncle, an ASU alum, and I fell in love with Tempe. When Coach Bowman announced he would be taking over the Sun Devil swim program, my heart was set on coming out west to achieve my dreams."

Hannah Sanders (Diving | Southridge HS/Tigard, Ore.)
Coach Mark Bradshaw: "I am excited to announce the commitment of Hannah Sanders to our Sun Devil swimming and diving team. With  Mara Aiacoboae and Rebecca Deacon graduating this spring, we needed to make sure we added a strong competitive diver to round out our 2018-19 diving roster (Sarah Bathe, Frida Kaellgren and Ashley McCool). Hannah will keep our depth in the diving events strong.  Hannah has an athletic upside that shows great promise! Hannah, out of the Tualatin Hills Dive club and Southridge HS in Beaverton, Ore. is an outstanding student who will pursue nursing."

Eddie Michael (Free/Back | Dublin Coffman HS/Dublin, Ohio)
The school record holder in three different events (50 free, 100 back, 100 free) has broken his own records each year since freshman year. He's also been named All-Ohio each year of high school and served as a team captain one season. Michael also competed in his high school relay team at the finals of the state meet.
 
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "Getting to know new people and getting after it with the team."
 
On why he chose ASU: "Because the coaching staff was unreal, the people on the team are great, and it's always been my dream to go to ASU since I was a little kid."

Elijah Warren (Breast/IM/Fly/Free | Regis Jesuit HS/Aurora, Colo.)
Elijah Warren is a five-time All-American, three times in the 200 medley relay (2014, 2015, 2016) and twice in the 100 breast (2015, 2016). He set a new state record in the 100 breast (SCY) in 2016 as well as a new team record in the breaststroke relay of the 200 medley relay. He earned a place on the Highest Honor Roll (4.0 and above) from 2014-17.
 
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "Being surrounded by my future teammates who will push me to become a better athlete, student, and person."
 
On why he chose ASU: "I felt there are big things coming at ASU in the swim and dive program, with Coach Bowman and the rest of the coaching staff. I feel that ASU will provide numerous ways for me to succeed in and out of the pool. With ASU being named the No. 1 innovative school in the country, the academic opportunity was very exciting to me."

Brady Estrada (Fly | Windermere, Fla./Montverde Academy)
Brady Estrada is a two-year team captain from Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla. where she won a state championship and qualified for Junior Nationals. She was named NISCA All-American, Rookie of the Year, Most Outstanding Swimmer, as well as earning the Leadership Award and the Character Award. Academically, she's part of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and the Cum Laude Society.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "Being able to experience an entirely new atmosphere in swimming and train with elite level swimmers that will help push me to my best."
 
On why she chose ASU: "The minute I stepped onto the campus for the very first time, I knew it was a perfect fit for me. Everything from the location, team, coaches, and academic programs have been extremely impressive and I am blessed to be able to be a part of it next year."

Liam Bresette (IM/Free | Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit North High School)
Liam Bresette is an All-American, conference and state champion, who recently broke his own state record in the 200 free. He also holds 500 free and 100 free state records, a 100 free mark he set in 2017. One of his most exciting sports moments was getting a world championship trials cut in the 200m free.
 
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "Training with people faster than me."
 
On why he chose ASU: "The business program, people I know who attend ASU, the opportunity to train with people faster than me, the coaching staff, the campus, and the atmosphere of the team."

Abigail Mawae (Breast/Free | Baton Rouge, La./Desert Mountain HS/The Dunham School)
Abigail Mawae helped lead St. Joseph's Academy to a state championship her freshman year, winning a 100 breast and 200 free relay state championship in 2016 with The Dunham School. One of her favorite swim memories was winning a LCM 200 breast state championship with her club in 2014, as she was seeded third going into the finals and was racing against older girls. Her dad, Kevin, played for 16 years in the NFL for the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "I'm most looking forward to the team connection next year and becoming best friends with all my teammates while swimming fast."
 
On why she chose ASU: "The reason I chose ASU was because you can't find better coaches. The staff is incredible, the team is unlike any other, and the university offers so much more than any other school."

Caleb Ives (Diving | Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe Senior HS)
Coach Mark Bradshaw: "I'm very excited to have Caleb Ives joining what I believe will be the youngest and deepest talent pool in my 20 years at ASU. Caleb brings with him the prototypical type of diver and student-athlete I've had. Very talented (athletically and academically) and has the desire to achieve greatness."

Lilia Smith (Free/Fly | Cumming, Ga./Lambert High School)
Lilia Smith, a 2017 All-American and Lambert Women's MVP, broke the 200 free relay record in 2016 and is both a National Honor Society and BETA club member. She set a record in the 200 medley relay in 2017 and her favorite moments in sports are each year's GHSA High School Meet, where her team had a four-year winning streak going into last year.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "I am looking forward to becoming a better swimmer both physically and mentally. ASU has all the tools I need in order to achieve that. I cannot wait to be a part of such an amazing team."
 
On why she chose ASU: "I chose ASU because the second I walked onto campus, I fell in love with it. Everything about Arizona State felt like home to me. The team and coaching staff were all so nice and welcoming and I could really see myself as part of the team. It is a great place for me to excel not only in the pool but also in the classroom."

Khalil Fonder (Fly/Back/Free | Vinton, Va./William Byrd High School)
Khalil Fonder is a butterfly and backstroke master and won two Virginia 4A HS State championships in Feb. 2017. He has taken a lot of guidance and inspiration from his dad, Doug, who is the President/CEO of the International Swim Coaches Association (ISCA). He competed in Olympic Trials in 2016.
 
Ruby Martin (Fly/IM/Free | Coralville, Iowa/West High School)
Ruby Martin is the top 200 butterflyer in the class of 2018 and is in the top-25 overall for the class, finishing fourth in the 200m fly at the 2016 US Olympic Team Trials, with the 10th fastest time in history for a 15-16 girl. She also won the 200y fly at Winter Juniors West and earned top-8 finishes in the 500 free (8th) and 200 IM (5th). She competed at both Summer Nationals/WC Trials and the US Open. Only previously swimming in club competition prior to her senior year, in her high school swimming debut in Aug. 2017, she broke the school record in the 100 fly.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "Coach Bowman obviously has the experience of (molding Olympians), and I'm sure the rest of his staff does. So it'll be nice to be surrounded by people that all have very similar goals to me. It'll be a different level of motivation that I haven't experienced yet."
 
On why she chose ASU: "I truly believe that they have the ability and motivation to get me to where I want to go and my goals. The whole coaching staff is like that – they're very fun, they're very enthusiastic and motivating and it's all the time."
 
Jack Little (Free | Jonesboro, Ark./Valley View High School)
Jack Little is a seven-time Arkansas LSC Swimmer of the Year, competing for both Valley View HS and the Jonesboro Jets. He won a Central Region VIII Championship in the 800m free in 2015 and earned top-3 finishes in the 400, 800, and 1500m events at 2017 Futures. He has also served as the Junior and Senior Athlete Representative for Arkansas LSC, serving on committees and traveling to HOD meetings and the USAS Convention.
 
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "I will get the opportunity to train under Coach Bob Bowman and be a part of a program that is pushing the limits. Along with the amazing academics, the supportive environment, and the city of Tempe, it was the right decision and I can't wait to kick off my freshman year at Arizona State."
 
On why he chose ASU: "I've made the decision to commit to ASU because of the outstanding academics and the chance to be a part of the team and the direction that it is going."

Isabella All (Back/IM | Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood High School)
Isabella All was named Team MVP in 2017 and has won three consecutive individual and team conference championships. Academically, she received the Scholar-Athlete Award for three straight seasons (2015-17) and is an AP Scholar as well as part of the National Honor Society and Yearly High Honor Roll. In 2017, she placed first in the 200 IM at the High School Sectional Meet, placing second in the 200 IM, 200 medley relay, and 400 free relay at the High School District Meet.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "I'm looking forward to training under Bob and working toward reaching my potential. The girls are amazing and get along so well and I can't wait to train with such an encouraging group of women that want the best for everyone. I can't wait to keep improving and race as a Sun Devil. Aside from swimming, I am also looking forward to studying engineering and working to further my education. I want to work with the Earth and Space Exploration projects such as the Cube Satellite missions. And, of course, I am super excited to be training outside all year long."
 
On why she chose ASU: "ASU has everything I am looking for in a school athletically and academically. It will provide me with the perfect balance between swimming and school and the opportunities for me are endless. The coaching staff and the team made me feel so comfortable when I visited and I knew that I would fit in well. I was given an amazing opportunity to do what I want with my swimming and education so I couldn't pass it up. I can't wait to continue to improve just as ASU's swim team has been improving drastically over the recent years."
 
Joely Merriman (Free/Back | Shawnee, Kan./Shawnee Mission North HS)
Joely Merriman is a two-year team captain from Shawnee Mission North HS where she won a state championship in the 100 free in 2016. Merriman won a Sun Flower League Championship in 2015, was named KC Swim Performance of the Year in 2016, and First Team All-State from 2015-17. A Scholar-Athlete and Principal's Honor Roll member, Merriman is a National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society member.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "Next year at ASU, I am looking forward to learning about prosthetics, swimming fast, and making lifelong friends."
 
On why she chose ASU: "I chose ASU not only for the astounding biomedical program and accomplished swim team, but because the coaches and team made me feel at home. The team's vision for the future is truly amazing and something that I cannot wait to be a part of."

Sheridan Schreiber (Breast/Fly/IM | West Forsyth HS/Cumming, Ga.)
A 2016 All-American, Sheridan Schreiber was named Iron Wolverine in 2015, 2016, and 2017. She holds six school records at West Forsyth High School and earned her best finish at state in 2016 (second in 100 breast). The National Honor Society member set a medley relay record at the Southern Zone meet.
 
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "The thing I'm looking forward to most about ASU next year is definitely being part of such a great team with such great coaches. I have no doubt it will be the best four years of my life."
 
On why she chose ASU: "I chose ASU for its great team and coaches. They have shown they are great people both in and out of the pool."
