Gym Devil newcomer Molly McNamara joins the team as a walk-on from Pearland Elite Training Center in Texas. She had a successful 2017 season earning top-three finishes on vault in every meet during the regular season, including the vault title at both the 2017 Metroplex Challenge and the Houston National Invite. She also took the beam, floor and all-around title at the Houston National Invite. In 2016 the Texas native was a Junior Olympic National qualifier. McNamara joins Cairo Leonard-Baker (Oakland, CA) and Maya Williams (Reistertown, MD) to form a strong group of freshmen on the Gym Devils' 2018 roster...

What drew you to Arizona State?
The climate and the atmosphere, making it feel like home. Oh, and number 1 in innovation!!!

If you could have dinner with anyone from any era, who would it be and why?
2006 Chris Brown, just so I can tell him "Yo" is a bop.
 
If you had the chance to pick the brain of any coach in any sport, who would it be?
Bill Belichick, because he led his team to numerous super bowl and he's a great leader with enough mental strength to carry a professional team to that much success.
 
If you had the chance to watch one past sporting event, which one would you go to? 
Texas A&M and Alabama game in 2012, when bama finally lost.
 
What is your hometown and what do you like best about it?
Houston, Texas. I love the culture and the people that originate from there. Its just pure and original.

Tasha Beale and Nick Cedillo, who are my coaches that built me into the athlete I am today.
 
What is your favorite gymnastics related memory?
Sticking my first Yurchenko Full at the HNI meet during team finals.

What is the hardest thing about competing as gymnast? 
Making small mistakes at competition when you know you are capable of hitting in the gym during practice.
 
Do you have any personal goals for this upcoming season?
Making a difference for the Gym Devils in and out of the gym. Being able to make a difference for the team gymnastics wise, and being the person a teammate can come to when things get rocky.
