Torian Graham, once rated as the No. 12 shooting guard in the nation by Rivals.com, has signed with Arizona State men's basketball, Coach Bobby Hurley has announced.
The 6-4 guard played at Chipola College in Florida as he averaged 12.9 points and shot better than 40 percent from the three-point stripe in 2013-14. He sat the 2014-15 season at Buffalo due to NCAA transfer rules.
"Torian was very highly ranked coming out of high school, and watching him over the past few years it is easy to see why. He's very explosive, can shoot the long three-ball and is a scoreboard changer. I have said before he is super talented and he has tremendous upside and is very coachable. We look forward to having him in our program."
In high school, Graham was a top recruit ranked No. 67 by Rivals and 91 by ESPN 100. The Durham, N.C., native played for a Chipola program that has produced six NJCAA Region title, eight Panhandle Conference titles, more than 60 Division I players, a pair of NJCAA Players of the year and was voted best JUCO Program of the Decade (2000-10).
Graham helped the Indians in 2013-14 to a 26-6 overall mark and had four 20-point games and seven games of double digits, including a season-high 34 on 13-of-22 shooting against East Georgia State. He also had 29 points (11-of-14 from the field) that included six three-pointers against South Georgia State and had 23 points with six three-pointers against Brunswick Community College.
He finished his prep career at Creedmore (N.C.) Christian Faith Academy after averaging 19.0 points per game as a junior at Raleigh (N.C.)’s Word of God Christian Academy.
Four starters return from a Sun Devil team that finished 18-16 (9-9 in the Pac-12) and tied for fifth in the Pac-12 and went 15-3 at home, which included wins over teams Arizona (Elite Eight), UCLA (Sweet Sixteen) and Ivy League champion Harvard. ASU is 49-8 in past 57 home games (including three wins over Arizona), 23-3 in past 26 and 31-4 in past 35 in Wells Fargo Arena.
ASU is expected to return six letterman from last year and has now added five newcomers to the program.
