Larkin Wins Junior Greco-Roman Championship

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State wrestling incoming freshman Erik Larkin of Vail, Ariz., won the 132-pound title Wednesday at the ASICS/Tiger Junior Greco-Roman National Championships in Fargo, N.D.

Larkin, a graduate of Tucson Sunnyside High School, notched a 57-second pin over David Castle of Sublimity, Ore., to claim first place. A 1998 ASICS All-American First Team member at 140 pounds, Larkin was the 1997 Junior Greco-Roman National Champion at 123.

On Friday, Larkin will begin competing in the freestyle junior nationals.

Junior World Team Training Camp at ASU: Arizona State wrestling will host the Junior World Team (ages 17-20) training camp from July 28 to Aug. 4 in Wells Fargo Arena. Team USA and Poland will train in Tempe during the one-week camp before heading to Las Vegas for the Junior World Championships (Aug. 7-9).
