Jon Rahm Ties for 12th at Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters

LAS VEGAS, Nev.—The final round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters came to a conclusion Sunday afternoon with the No. 30 ranked Arizona State men’s golf team finishing out the tournament in 14th place. Jon Rahm led the way for the Sun Devils, barely missing out on a top 10 finish.

Coming off the best round of any school on Saturday, ASU put up a combined score of 17-over par 305 on the final day of competition. Though the team struggled Sunday, its third round score was still 13 strokes better than its first round on Friday. The Sun Devils finished just three strokes behind No. 3 Georgia Tech and two strokes behind No. 12 Texas A&M.

Jon Rahm began the day tied for 4th, but shot a round of 3-over par 75 and concluded the tournament at 6-over par (76-71-75-222). He placed ahead of both No. 1 ranked individual golfer Joey Garber from Georgia and No. 2 ranked Robby Shelton of Alabama. Rahm birdied three holes on the day after notching four birdies on Saturday’s second round of 1-under par.

Austin Quick also finished out a thorough 72-hole performance on Sunday, coming in with a tie for 21st at 9-over par (78-71-76-225). Quick missed out on a top 20 finish by just one stroke after he began the day in a tie for 16th after he too shot 1-under par in the second round to help him leap up the leaderboard.

Broc Johnson tied for his best round of the weekend with a 5-over par 77 on Sunday and finished the tournament in a tie for 62nd. For the tournament he was 9-over par (81-77-77-235). Max Rottluff also shot a 77 Sunday, his best round, as he came in tied for 69th at 22-over par (83-78-77-238).

UNLV took home the overall team victory while Patrick Rodgers of Stanford won the individual title.

Next up for men’s golf is the Thunderbird Invitational in which Arizona State hosts. The tournament runs from Friday, Mar. 21 through Sunday, Mar. 23 from Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
