Diving Signs Two in 2014 Class

TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State diving head coach Mark Bradshaw announced Luke Clohessy and David Hoffer have signed letters of intent to study and compete for the Sun Devils.

Clohessy, who hails from Australia, will join ASU in the spring of 2014. In February, Clohessy won silver medals at the Australian You Olympic Festival held in Sydney. He took home second on both the individual men’s 10-meter platform and the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform.  Clohessy also finished second at the National Elite Junior Championships in Victoria, Australia in 2012.

“Luke, who will begin his Sun Devil Career starting in spring semester, will have an immediate impact for us at the Pac-12 and NCAA championship level,” said head coach Mark Bradshaw. “He has a wealth of experience to this point of his diving career. I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to help Luke develop his talent to its fullest potential.”

Hoffer, a native of Littleton, Colo., will compete for the Sun Devils beginning in the fall of 2014. Finishing sixth in the 3-meter at USA Diving JO Zone E Championships, Hoffer qualified for the USA Diving Junior National Diving Championships where he placed 31st with a score of 450.55. Hoffer was originally a gymnast and just took up competitive diving approximately three years ago.

“David, who will begin in the fall of 2014 has a tremendous amount of talent,” said Bradshaw.  “A late bloomer to the sport, David continues to grow and there is no doubt in my mind that he will have an exceptional academic and athletic career here at Arizona State University.”
