ASU Moves UA Football Date for National Telecast

February 10, 1999

TEMPE, Ariz.-The 1999 Arizona State-Arizona football game, originally scheduled for Friday, November 26, has been moved to Saturday, November 27 to accommodate a national television audience on ABC, Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin White announced Wednesday.

Kickoff for the game will be at 11:00 a.m. (MST) at Frank Kush Field at Sun Devil Stadium.

The game will be distributed by ABC to 85-percent of the nation's television households, thus giving ASU one of its largest regular season television audiences of all time.

"The Pacific-10 Conference and ABC approached us about the possibility of playing in this time slot, thus presenting a brilliant opportunity to afford our program tremendous national exposure," says White. "This rivalry has become one of the best in all of collegiate sports and now the entire country will be able to experience the passion between these two institutions."

"I've played in the Oregon-Oregon State rivalry and I've coached in the UCLA-USC and California-Stanford rivalries," says Sun Devil Head Football Coach Bruce Snyder. "The ASU-UA rivalry is the best in my opinion and now the majority of the country can view firsthand what I am talking about. Also, it provides our program with unmatched exposure."
