TEMPE – Sun Devil Women's Tennis has announced the signing of Lily Taylor and Karin Altori for the upcoming spring 2025 season, joining first-year head coach Jamea Jackson as the team prepares for its first season in the Big 12 Conference.
Lily Taylor, a native from Australia, has won two ITF world junior titles and two world junior doubles titles in 2021. She boasts a career-high junior singles ITF ranking of No. 42, and is currently ranked No. 167 with a UTR of 10.07 in singles and a 9.95 score in doubles. She has also competed at the highest level at the junior ranks, appearing in all four grand slams and making the round of 64 in the singles draw in 2023. Additionally, she made the round of 16 in the junior doubles draw at the French Open and at Wimbledon in 2023. She also has appeared in the Australian Open twice in her junior career.
"I'm super excited to experience the team environment and atmosphere here at ASU and start a new chapter," said Taylor. "Meeting all the girls and coaches on the team and seeing that competitive atmosphere made me want to become a Sun Devil."
The incoming freshman has won six junior singles titles in her career and four junior doubles title since 2021. She has a career singles record of 87-50 in her junior career and for doubles, a 67-43 record in the junior ranks. In the professional ranks on the WTA tour, she boasts a 12-14 record and comes to Arizona State with tremendous experience with 54 total wins on hard court surfaces throughout her career.
Karin Altori comes from Israel with an ITF juniors career-high rankings of No. 166 and a UTR rating of 9.63. She has a 62-57 career singles record with two singles titles and two doubles titles as a junior. Additionally, she also carries a career doubles record of 55-44 in her junior career.
"I'm really excited to work with such amazing coaches, improve my game and be part of this amazing team." said Altori. "I chose Arizona State mainly because of the coaches. Their experience and support made it clear this is the best place for me to grow."
The incoming Sun Devil has been competing on the ITF World Tennis Tour and has compiled a record of 22-20, including participating in the 2024 Billie Jean Cup. This calendar year she has an 11-10 record, with all 11 wins coming on clay.
The maroon and gold will welcome LMU and UC San Diego on January 18 to open the season, slated for an 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. start at Whiteman Tennis Center. Then the team will travel to the east coast to the ITA Kickoff Event in Chapel Hill, N.C. on January 25-26 to face Wisconsin and either North Carolina or Alabama.
In the final ITA poll of the fall, the Sun Devils have three ranked singles players inside the top 100 in the country, featuring NCAA Qualifier Emilija Tverijonaite ranked No. 24, Sara Svetac being tabbed at No. 49 and Ada Piestrzynska entering the fall season ranked No. 98.
