TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 8 Sun Devil women's golf team has completed 18 holes and the first of three days of their own PING/ASU Invitational, currently sitting in 10th place.
"Today, we played too tentative and cautious," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We know this golf course and will come back ready to compete in round two."
Olivia Mehaffey is currently the top individual for the Sun Devils in a tie for 23rd, shooting three birdies on the front half, including her first two holes of the day, for a one-over 73. Sophia Zeeb is just one stroke behind her after both earned a top-10 finish at last weekend's Clover Cup.
The Sun Devils tee off on hole 10 on Saturday between 8 am and 8:36 am, with Madison Kerley starting things off at 8 am, followed by Raquel Olmos (8:09 am), Roberta Liti (8:18 am), Zeeb (8:27 am), and Mehaffey (8:36 am).
No. 16 Washington, Georgia, and No. 15 Arizona currently hold the top three spots on the leaderboard.
Parking and admission at ASU Karsten is free to the public.
