PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Plagued with tougher conditions including cold and wind on day two of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, No. 6 Sun Devil women's golf started the day in a tie for the top spot and finished the day seven strokes out of the lead in fourth.
"Conditions today were more difficult with the cold and wind, but Olivia is still playing beautiful golf," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "Our team is competing hard and we believe we are still in the hunt for the last day."
Olivia Mehaffey remains on top of the individual leaderboard, where she also ended Sunday night's first round. Mehaffey is 3-under for the tournament after shooting a 68 on Sunday and a par-71 in Monday's round two with four birdies.
Sophia Zeeb, Madison Kerley, and Roberta Liti each tallied two birdies apiece and Liti sits in the top-25 of the impressive field (T23/+5) with 18 holes to play.
No. 3 Alabama and No. 1 UCLA are tied for the top spot (+8) just ahead of Arizona (+9) in third.
Play starts a half hour earlier on Tuesday, this time with a shotgun start, with Arizona State teeing off with the top three teams starting at 8:30 am PT/9:30 am MT. Mehaffey (Hole 1), Kerley (2A), Liti (2B), Zeeb (3), and Raquel Olmos Ros (4) are paired with players from the Crimson Tide, Bruins, and Wildcats.
