"I'm really proud of Nichelle and her performance today," said head coach Jay Santos. "Competing as an individual at Regionals can be tough and she handled the whole process really well. The whole year is spent with your team and then you come to Regionals without your normal support system - it can be hard for some. Nichelle did a great job of keeping everything normal and she went out and did a great beam routine. She has done such a good job for us all year; I'm really glad she was able to finish the year strong."
A transfer from the University of Michigan, Christopherson made an exceptional mark in her first season as a Gym Devil. She competed on beam in eleven of twelve total meets for the Sun Devils, most notably playing a role in the team's 195.700-195.375 upset of then-No. 23 Arizona on March 5, scoring a career high 39.150 in the all-around while earning the beam title with a season high 9.900.Four gymnasts tied for first on beam with scores of 9.900.
