Three Sun Devils Earn Week 4 HonorsThree Sun Devils Earn Week 4 Honors
TEMPE, Ariz. – Redshirt sophomore quarterback Manny Wilkins, senior placekicker Zane Gonzalez and redshirt senior defensive back Laui Moeakiola each earned weekly honors for their performance against Cal on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Wilkins, who is one of two Pac-12 players named to the Davey O'Brien "Great 8" quarterback list, finished Saturday's game 21-of-30 for 290 yards through the air and one passing touchdown. He also tacked on three rushing touchdowns as part of his 23 carries for 72 yards. As a leader, Wilkins rallied his team to a second-half victory, commanding three touchdown drives down the stretch for a comeback 51-41 victory over the Golden Bears.

Through his first four collegiate starts, Wilkins has accounted for nine touchdowns with five passing and four rushing. The last ASU quarterback to be named as a finalist for the weekly honor was Mike Bercovici for his upset over No. 7 UCLA in October of 2015.

All 128 FBS quarterbacks are eligible for the weekly honor. The winner of the Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Week Award, which will be one of the week's "Great 8" quarterbacks, will be announced Tuesday.

For the second-straight week, Gonzalez has earned both a Lou Groza "Star of the Week" honor and Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week. The Pac-12-point leader totaled 15 points (3FG, 6XP) against Cal, moving his streak to 43 consecutive games with a point while approaching Luis Zendejas' school record of 45. His three field goals moved him into 4th in FBS history for career field goals made at 84, now four shy of Florida State's Dustin Hopkins FBS record of 88. Gonzalez is also now one field goal shy of tying the Pac-12 record of 85 set by UCLA's Kai Forbath from 2007-10.

It is the first time in his career Gonzalez has earned multiple Pac-12 weekly honors in a season.

On the defensive side of the ball, Moeakiola is one of nine NCAA players listed as a nominee for the Week 4 Lott Impact Player of the Week. With 2:52 remaining in the game on Saturday and Cal trailing 37-34, Moeakiola intercepted quarterback Davis Webb and returned it for a touchdown to seal the victory for the Sun Devils, putting them ahead 44-34.

The Sun Devils return to action in Los Angeles to take on USC on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. (PT) on FOX.
