@SunDevilWGolf in Second After Round One of PING/ASU Invitational

PHOENIX – Following the first round of the first-ever PING/ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Course in the tournament's 47th year, No. 16 Sun Devil women's golf sits in a close second place, just one stroke behind No. 4 Stanford for the lead spot.
 
In a tight race near the top, just three strokes separate the top four teams – No. 4 Stanford, No. 16 ASU, No. 21 Oklahoma, and No. 23 Oregon. No. 1 USC is five strokes behind the Sun Devils.

"We had a solid round today and scored well," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We left a few shots out there though and I know if we can minimize a few mental errors, we will do even better tomorrow. I am proud of this team and how hard they have been working to prepare for our home event! We look forward to tomorrow and competing hard!"

Individually, Raquel Olmos shot a 2-under 70, tied for her fourth-lowest round of the season, and is the leading Sun Devil in a tie for third. Freshman Alessandra Fanali is also in the top-10, in a tie for seventh after shooting a 71 for her second-lowest career score.
 
Alexandra Forsterling is also in the top-25 (T22) while Olivia Mehaffey is just outside the top-25 (T30). Senior Sofia Anokhina rounds out the competing five for the Sun Devils.
 
Playing as an individual, Madison Kerley is also in the top-10 following the first 18 holes of action, shooting a 1-under 71 on day one, her second-lowest score of the season.
 
ASU tees off with Stanford and Oklahoma between 9:30 am-10:06 am on hole one on Saturday morning.
