HONOLULU, HI — The Arizona State beach volleyball team (10-15) opened up play at the 2018 Hawai'i-hosted Senior Celebration Saturday afternoon, dropping a pair of duals to Boise State and No. 3 Hawai'i, respectively.

Arizona State opened the competition, falling in a highly-contested meeting with Mountain West affiliate Boise State, 3-2. 

The standout freshmen No. 5s duo of Kate Baldwin and Sam Plaster kick started the outing with a dominant straight-set victory of 21-11, 21-15 over Boise State's Kenna Hanses and Skye Southwick. After dropping a point on the fours court, the Sand Devils retained the lead courtesy of a 21-17, 21-9 win on part of the sophomore pairing of Ellyson Lunsberg and Katelyn Carballo. Despite a valiant three-set effort at the twos featuring Sand Devils Frances Giedraitis and Sydney Palmer, Arizona State relented the dual's final two points, falling in the afternoon tilt, 3-2.
