TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State softball team is garnering national attention leading into the 2018 season, appearing in both preseason top-25 polls released Tuesday morning. The Sun Devils, who advanced to their 29th NCAA postseason appearance in 2017, were tabbed at No. 19 in the ESPN/USA Softball poll, while also being ranked No. 23 by USA Today.
ASU is scheduled to play 31 games against teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in the preseason poll, including a game against top-ranked Oklahoma on Feb. 22, in Palm Springs.
The Pac-12 features four teams in the top-10 including No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Washington, No. 5 UCLA and No. 7 Arizona. No. 15 Utah and No. 23 Arizona State are also in the preseason poll. ASU will host three game sets at Farrington against No. 4 Washington (March 17-19), No. 3 Oregon (April 13-15) before hosting No. 7 Arizona (April 20-22).
