Marlies Ross Season 2018-19

JUNIOR (2017-18)

• Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention 
• Swam 4 of the top-10 times in the 200 breast for ASU (7-10)
• Swam the 9th fastest 200 fly on the team
• Swam 5 of ASU's top-10 times in the 200 IM (5-7, 9-10) and four of the top-10 times in the 400 IM, including the top-2 spots (1-2, 5-6)

SOPHOMORE (2016-17)

• Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention
• Won 100 breast at UCLA (Nov. 5)
• Won 200 breast at UCLA (Nov. 5), vs. Cal (Jan. 21), vs. NAU (Dec. 16), and vs. Oregon State (Jan. 7)
• Won 200 IM at UCLA (Nov. 5)
• Won 400 IM at Arizona (Feb. 4), vs. Oregon State (Jan. 7), and at Utah (Oct. 21), T-1st vs. Denver (Oct. 29)

FRESHMAN (2015-16)

• Joined the Sun Devils in January of 2016
• Made an immediate impact, placing 2nd in the 400 IM and 2nd in the 200 back against No. 2 Cal on Jan. 23, 2016
• Followed that with a 1st-place finish in the 400 IM and 2nd in the 200 breast & fly against Arizona on Feb. 6, 2016
• In her first Pac-12 Championship appearance, finished 4th in the 400 IM and 5th in the 200 free
• Was the only female Sun Devil swimmer to qualify for the NCAA Championships
• Broke the ASU record in the 400 IM in her third-ever meet as a Sun Devil at the Pac-12 Championships with an 'B' cut time of 4:05.37 
• Also holds three other top-10 times on the ASU record list, including the 200 breast (6th), 200 fly (8th) and 200 IM (5th)

HIGH SCHOOL

• At the South African Short Course Nationals in July of 2015, Ross took home four gold, a silver and three bronze medals. 
• Competed at the 2014 Common Wealth Games, where she finished 3rd in the women's 200 IM 2nd heat with a time of 2:15.17
• Placed 2nd in the women's 200 IM at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games with a time of 2:15.45
• Also competed in the 2013 Junior World Championships and World Championships

 

PERSONAL

• Born in South Africa to Andrew and Annette Ross
• Majoring in kinesiology
• Mother, Annette, is a swim instructor
• Has one younger brother, Andrew
• Enjoys building cars in her spare time.
