WACO, Texas – In their first appearance in the Big 12 Tournament Sun Devil Women's Tennis (14-8) advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-1 victory over Colorado (9-13) Thursday afternoon at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. Arizona State will face the No. 3 seed Oklahoma State tomorrow at 7 a.m. AZT.

The Sun Devils opened the match with a statement by winning the doubles point thanks to Emilija Tverijonaite and Aiya Nupbay securing the 6-3 win from the third position. Sara Svetac and Karin Altori won 6-3 on court No. 2 to help the maroon and gold take a 1-0 lead. It's the duos 10th win together as a pair this spring. No. 60 Patricija Spaka and Lily Taylor were ahead 5-4 before the doubles point was won.
Tverijonaite bounced back by cruising to a straight sets 6-1, 6-3 victory helping the Sun Devils secure the second point of the match to take a 2-1 lead. It's Tverijonaite's 23th win of her sophomore season. Svetac battled on the first court but was unable to muster a comeback.
Taylor battled in a hard fought first set and then managed to break Ema Bubalos serve to take a 5-4 lead in the opening set. She would then secure the first set 6-4, from there on out she won six straight games to win the Sun Devils third point with a second set doughnut. The victory marked her 10th career singles win as a Sun Devil.
Spaka would later close out the match with her third straight victory and 11th of the spring with a 6-3, 6-4, win over Betina Tokac. Nupbay has crused to a second set win 6-1, and was ahead 3-0 in the third set before the match was called. Evans battled to a first set victory of 7-5, and was tied 1-all.
