CARSON, CA– Sun Devil Lacrosse (3-1) wraps up their west coast road trip with a matinee matchup against No. 23 USC (3-1). The game against former Pac-12 foe is slated for Monday, February 24 at 2 p.m. AZT. Due to construction at USC's home field, the game will take place in Carson, CA at the Dignity Health Sports Park. A livestream will be available on Big 10+.
In the all-time meetings, ASU is 2-12 against the Trojans, having lost the last four matchups. The last road win against USC dates back to March 19, 2021, when the Sun Devils downed the Trojans 20-9.
Sun Devil Outlook:
The Sun Devils' undefeated start to the season ended on Friday in the neutral-site matchup against Denver halted three straight wins. The team matched a program-best 3-0 start to the season after picking up road wins against Niagara and Pittsburgh, followed by a dominant win in their home opener against Detroit Mercy. In the 21-1 win over Detroit Mercy, the Sun Devils re-wrote the record books after their 20-goal margin of victory and one goal allowed set a new program best.
The hot start has ASU leading the Big 12 Conference in a variety of categories: assists per game (9), draw controls per game (17.33), save percentage (.563), and scoring margin (9.67). In all four categories, the Sun Devils sit at top-10 in NCAA ranks.
Scouting the Opponent:
In the matchup, both teams are competing in new eras, as USC is a member of the Big 10, and ASU resides in the Big 12. Like the Sun Devils, the Trojans also boast a 3-1 record, all three wins coming in their last three games after dropping their first contest to No. 20 Stanford in week one.
Last week, USC earned their first Big 10 weekly honors after Maddie Dora and Annie Shields were named offensive and defensive player of the week, respectively.
When playing at Dignity Health Sports Park, USC is 4-2 all time.
