SAN DIEGO– Sun Devil Lacrosse (3-0) is back on the road to take on the Denver Pioneers (1-2) on neutral ground in San Diego, California. The game is set for Friday, February 21 at 12 p.m. AZT. There is no live stream however live stats will be available via Stat Broadcast.

In the meeting between the two teams last season, Denver sat at No. 13 in the polls. Arizona State was in the game at halftime, down just 9-7, however, a 9-1 third quarter in favor of the Pioneers was enough to put the game away.

Sun Devil Outlook:
The Sun Devils have matched a program-best 3-0 start to the season after picking up road wins against Niagara and Pittsburgh, followed by a dominant win in their home opener against Detroit Mercy. In the 21-1 win over Detroit Mercy, the Sun Devils re-wrote the record books after their 20-goal margin of victory and one goal allowed set a new program best.

Two Sun Devils, Teagan Ng (attacker) and Katie Vahle (goalkeeper) earned Big 12 weekly awards on Tuesday for their efforts in last week's wins.
The hot start has ASU leading the Big 12 Conference in a variety of categories: assists per game (9), draw controls per game (17.33), save percentage (.563), and scoring margin (9.67).  In all four categories, the Sun Devils sit at top-10 in NCAA ranks.

Scouting the Opponent:
The Pioneers started the season 1-2 and despite being in the IWLCA polls for the first two weeks of the season, they are no longer ranked. In 2024, Denver was the Big East Champs and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where they fell 4-17 to Northwestern. In neutral site games last season, Denver was a perfect 4-0.

In two contests against the Pioneers, ASU is winless. Both games were in Denver and never a neutral site. ASU averages 10.5 goals against DU while they've allowed an average of 21.5 goals in the contests.

Sun Devil Notables:
  • For the first time in her career, head coach Taryn VanThof will coach against her sister, Taylor, who is an associate head coach at DU.
  • With a win against Denver, ASU would open the season 4-0 for the first time in program history.
  • The Sun Devils saw their first Big 12 Weekly awards of the season following last week's competitions.
  • After scoring four goals against Detroit Mercy, Lydia Oldknow extended her scoring streak to 22 games, dating back to the 2024 season opener.
  • Attackers Addie Shevitz and Jordyn Behar each recorded a career-high three goals against UDM, also notching their first career hat tricks.
