TEMPE – Following a week away from competition, Sun Devil Women's Tennis heads to the Pacific Northwest to face Oregon on Friday, February 14th at 12 p.m. MST. Then the team will travel to Washington to take on the Huskies at 12 p.m. MST on Saturday, February 16th.
The team is looking to build on its upset victory against then-No. 15 Pepperdine on February 1st and it's the first of two weekends on the road for the Sun Devils before starting conference play at the end of the month.

The Sun Devils upset No. 15 Pepperdine with a 4-2 victory over the Waves on February 1st. Sara Svetac won two points for the maroon and gold by helping clinch the doubles point, winning 6-2. In singles, she won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 over #13 Savannah Broadus and clinched the match for the Sun Devils.
Patricija Spaka stayed undefeated on the season winning her singles match in a 6-2, 6-2 straight sets victory over #50 Liam Oved. Karsyn Evans won her singles match in straight sets to help ASU notch the win two weeks ago.

The Sun Devils boast two players in the top-50 in the latest ITA Rankings which were updated on February 5. Emilija Tverijonaite is ranked 38th in the country after an NCAA tournament appearance and is currently 2-2 on the year. Sara Svetac entered the top-50 at the end of the fall and is currently No. 45. The Sun Devils are one of two teams (Oklahoma State) in the Big 12 to have at least two players ranked in the top-50 in the ITA rankings.
In doubles, Karin Altori and Sara Svetac made their debut in the ITA rankings being ranked No. 56 in the country after a 4-1 start to the season.
SUPERIOR SPARKY:
Spaka has been lights out to start things off in her senior year. Spaka is currently 4-0 in singles, with all of her victories coming in straight sets. Additionally, she has racked up a 4-0 record in doubles alongside partner Lily Taylor. Spaka currently sits at 53 career wins in singles as she continues her climb for 60+ singles wins. She cemented herself as the 45th different Sun Devil in program history to win 50+ singles matches.
SPLINDID SARA:
The Sophomore is currently 3-2 this season and has split time between the #1 and #2 spots in singles, but is coming off being named Big 12 Player of the Week and earning a top-15 victory over Savannah Broadus of Pepperdine. Svetac came off a sucessful fall season where she went 8-4, and is also 4-1 in doubles when paired with Karin Altori. The duo is ranked #56 after the latest batch of ITA rankings.
NEW CONFERENCE, WHO THIS?
The Sun Devils were picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 Conference in the preseason poll announced on Jan. 7. The maroon and gold also picked up a first-place vote. In the first season competing in the Big 12, the Sun Devils boast a 98-23 record against current Big 12 competition.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Sun Devils head to San Diego to face off against the Toros on February 22nd at 1 p.m. MST to cap off their three-game road trip before beginning Big 12 play against Utah on February 28th at Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe.
