TEMPE – Sun Devil Women's Tennis (3-2, 0-0 Big 12) started the month of February on a strong note with a 4-2 home win against No. 15 Pepperdine (1-3, 0-0 WCC). It's the first victory over Pepperdine since 2013 and the first ranked win for head coach Jamea Jackson.
The pairs of Sara Svetac and Karin Altori and Emilija Tverijonaite and Aiya Nupbay helped ASU notch the doubles point and stay undefeated in doubles this season.
Patricija Spaka, Karsyn Evans and Sara Svetac all won in straight sets to secure the victory for the Sun Devils. Spaka moved to 4-0 on the season with her win and remains perfect in singles play.
Notably, Sara Svetac defeated #14 Savannah Broadus in a hard fought straight sets win which helped the Sun Devils notch the upset.
Arizona State vs. #15 Pepperdine
The Sun Devils came out scorching hot in doubles, claiming the point with a sweep. The team of Emilija Tverijonaite and Aiya Nupbay won 6-2, and were then followed by Sara Svetac and Karin Altori who clinched the point with another 6-2 victory.

Karsyn Evans brought Arizona State closer to victory with another win in straight sets, making it 3-2 after Pepperdine grabbed two points of its own. Sara Svetac proved to be the closer for ASU. The native of Croatia continued the straight sets pattern to clinch the victory for the maroon and gold with a ranked victory over #14 Savannah Broadus.
