CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Patricija Spaka and Lily Taylor continued to have success for Sun Devil Women's Tennis (2-2, 0-0 Big 12), by securing their fourth straight win as a doubles pair, however it wasn't enough as the team was bested by Alabama (1-2, 0-0 SEC) 4-3, in the consolation round of ITA Kickoff Weekend in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The doubles pair Sara Svetac and Lily Taylor bounced back with a 6-4 win in doubles, helping ASU secure the doubles point.
Sophomore Emilija Tverijonaite bounced back with a straight-sets victory to secure a point for the Sun Devils, and Spaka remained perfect in singles play, moving to 3-0 on the season with a straight sets victory. However Lily Taylor, Karin Altori and Karsyn Evans all forced their matches to three-sets, but were unable to close out their respective matches, with Alabama winning on courts 4, 5 and 6.
The Sun Devils will return to Whiteman Tennis Center next Saturday to take on No. 16 Pepperdine with the match starting at 12 p.m. MST.
Arizona State vs. Alabama
The doubles pair Sara Svetac and Karin Altori bounced back with a 6-3 win on court No. 2. Alabama defeated Tverijonaite/Nupbay on court No. 3 to even the doubles matches at 1-all. Spaka and Taylor managed to prevail in their second straight tiebreaker, winning 7-3 in the tiebreak to clinch the doubles point for the Sun Devils.

Alabama was able to tie the match at one after Svetac fell in straight sets to Petra Seflackova. Emilija Tverijonaite rebounded with winning the first six games, then battling in the second set to win 7-5 to win in straight sets to give the Sun Devils a 2-1 lead.
Spaka then persevered through a tight second set to eventually win the tiebreaker 7-4, winning the last three points to give the Sun Devils a 3-1 lead. Alabama then tied the match with wins on court's four and six, both winning in three sets.
The third set for Altori was back and forth, until Alabama was able to break the freshman's serve to clinch the match, 4-3.
