TEMPE – Home for the first time this season, Sun Devil Gymnastics is hosting its first Big 12 matchup against in-state rival No. 21 Arizona at Desert Financial Arena on Sunday at 3 p.m. MST and live on ESPN2.
This is the first conference dual meet for both teams in their inaugural seasons in the Big 12. The Sun Devils are also going for a ninth-straight regular-season win over the Wildcats.
For fans attending, the first 500 will receive free light-up devil horns. Additionally, it is the 942 Game of the Week and students will get free t-shirts. The meet also is the alumni meet for former Gym Devils. There also will be a diaper drive. Anyone who brings a pack of diapers will be able to get a free ticket to an upcoming meet this season.

Arizona State (4-3, 0-0 Big 12)
- The Gym Devils' second meet of the year was the Wasatch Classic in West Valley City, Utah last Monday. The team finished in first place out of four teams with a 195.675, beating Boise State, San Jose State and Iowa State.
- Graduate Emily White had a stand-out meet, scoring 9.900s on bars and floor and a 9.875 on beam, all team bests. The floor score won her a share of that event title and she placed second on the other two events. White now has 40 total scores of 9.9 or better in her career.
- Notable season highs were reached all across the lineups. Freshman Halle Braaflat scored a new best on floor (9.825), Smith had new highs on bars and beam (9.800), Clark's 9.850 on bars was a new best, Lee also had a 9.850 but on beam for a new season high and White's 9.900s were season highs.
- Junior Kimberly Smith competed in the all-around and placed in first place for her first event title in her career. She finished with a total score of 39.100, marking her best all-around score in her career as well.
Opponent Outlook
No. 21 Arizona (6-1, 0-0 Big 12)
- The Wildcats held their first home meet in a matchup against Air Force in Tucson last Friday. The team finished in first place with a 196.100 final score.
- Prior to Arizona's first home meet, the GymCats finished first in the American Gold Women's Collegiate Gymnastics College and second in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad.
- Last season, Arizona finished seventh at the Pac-12 Championship. The team qualified for NCAA Regionals, falling short in the Fayetteville Regional Semifinal.
- Arizona State currently holds a 37-16-1 all-time record over Arizona in Gymnastics. In the last eight regular-season matchups between the Gym Devils and GymCats, the Gym Devils are 8-0.
