TEMPE – A new era of Sun Devil Women's Tennis has arrived as ASU (2-0) took down LMU (0-2) and UC San Diego (0-2) on Saturday at Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe.
New head coach Jamea Jackson secured her first two wins as head coach of the Sun Devils which included a 7-0 sweep of LMU and 6-1 over UC San Diego. After 40 seasons under legendary head coach Sheila McInerney, Jackson picked up right where she left off as ASU dominated in their season openers.
Match One: ASU vs. LMU
The Devils began the day sweeping LMU in doubles to pick up the 1-0 lead.

In singles, Denver transfer Karsyn Evans and freshman Lily Taylor cruised to victory, both winning 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Karin Altori tacked on one more in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the fourth point for the Sun Devils. Each of these wins marked the first of their ASU careers. The veterans then stepped in to finish the 7-0 sweep as Patricija Spaka secured her 50th career singles match win as a Sun Devil 6-0, 6-4 on court two. Sara Svetac also triumphed in straight sets, winning 6-2, 7-5 on court five and Emilija Tverijonaite closed it out with a 6-1, 7-6 victory on court one. Each singles victory was decided in straight sets.

In spirited effort, Emilija Tverijonaite fell short in the final match of the night, resulting in a 6-1 overall win for Arizona State.
