Tempe, Ariz. – Sun Devil Women's Tennis wrapped up their annual Thunderbird Invitational taking place at Whiteman Tennis Center this weekend. Emilija Tverijonaite went 3-0 in all singles matches, winning all three in straight sets. The NCAA Qualifier will now begin preparations for the NCAA singles tournament set to start Nov. 19-25 in Waco, Texas.
Ada Piestrzynska and Aiya Nupbay both went 2-1 in singles play this weekend, and Karsyn Evans won a singles match on the opening day of the tournament in straight sets.

In singles, Tverijonaite won her third straight sets singles match of the weekend, prevailing over Josie Usereau 7-5, 6-4. In the second set, she came from behind, winning five straight games to win 6-4.
Aiya Nupbay won her second straight sets match over Laura Dahl, 6-3, 6-1 and Ada Piestrzynska came from a set-down to win 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 over Arizona's Stephanie Shogreen. In the third set she was down 1-4, and won five straight games to take the match.

ASU split the doubles matches on the day as Emilija Tverijonaite and Ada Piestrzynska took down NAU's Laura Duhl Leontine Stojanovic 6-4. California's Sophie Hernandez and Tiziana Schomburg defeated Karsyn Evans and Aiya Nupbay 6-2.

To kick off doubles play, the pair of Evans-Tverijonaite lost a competitive match against Cal's Thiel-Xu, 7-6.
The Sun Devils dropped their other matchup against the Bears, as Piestrzynka-Nupbay came up empty against Cal's Schomburg-Hernandez, 6-4. Arizona State held a 4-2 lead before the Bears stormed back to take the victory.
Tverijonaite was dominant in her singles match, making her way past Cal's Sophie Hernandez, 6-0, 6-0. She was joined by Karsyn Evans to pick up a Sun Devil win, as Evans beat Cal's Tiziana Marie Schomburg in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
