MADISON, Wisc. – Following the second round of competition at the 2018 NCAA Madison Regional, No. 12 Arizona State women's golf keeps their spot in the top six. Following Wednesday's third round, the top six in each of four regionals will advance to NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla. May 18-23.
"We played so well on the front side today," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "Although we struggled coming down the home stretch, we saw a lot of great play from all five players today. We will continue to build on our play and work to finish strong."
Arizona State once again showed senior leadership as Sophia Zeeb led the Sun Devils on day one and Roberta Liti recorded the lowest score on day two.
The Sun Devils tallied 16 birdies on the front nine, led by freshman Raquel Olmos who birdied five of her first nine holes. Liti, who moved into the top-10 (T9th), eagled hole two and either eagled or birdied three of her first four holes.
Liti led ASU with a 2-under 70 on the day followed closely by Olmos (71) and Olivia Mehaffey (72), who recorded six birdies on the day.
Zeeb is currently Arizona State's second competitor, remaining in the top-20 (T16th) as she and Madison Kerley each shot a 73 on Tuesday.
No. 4 Duke (-14), No. 31 Virginia (-6), and No. 6 USC (-3) are currently holding the top three spots in the regional while ASU and Oregon State are tied for fourth (-2).
