Tempe, Ariz. – Arizona State graduate linebacker Koron Crump has been named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list for the 2018 season. This is Crump's second consecutive year being named to the award's watch list.
Presented by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, the trophy is presented annually to college football's defensive impact player of the year. Named after Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Ronnie Lott, the trophy is the only one of its kind in college football that equally recognizes athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player.
Crump was granted a graduate year of eligibility by the NCAA after suffering a torn ACL in week three of his senior season, causing him to miss the remainder of the year. Prior to injury, Crump was tied for second in the nation with four sacks through the team's first two games of 2017.
Crump is one of 42 players (Lott's NFL jersey number) on the watch list. He is one of 21 linebackers, along with 11 defensive backs and 10 defensive lineman to make the list. He is one of 11 Pac-12 student-athletes to make the list, the most of any conference. Crump is also one of eight players to be named to the watch list for the second year in a row.
The Lott IMPACT trophy is voted on by a panel of selected national media, previous finalists, the Board of Directors of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation and a distinguished group of former college football head coaches.
To date, the Foundation has donated more than $1.5 million to various charities across the country, including over $500,000 to universities.
The winner of the 15th annual Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced December 9 in Newport Beach, California.
