BOULDER, Colo. – Sun Devil Lacrosse's own Maria Villanti was named to the 2018 Pac-12 Women's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team as announced by the conference Sunday evening.
 
The freshman midfielder was the leading point scorer for the Sun Devils in the inaugural conference tournament, recording a career-high three points (two goals and one assist) for the Maroon and Gold in the quarterfinal match-up with USC on Thursday. Villanti went two-for-two in free position shots and picked up a team-high four ground balls against the Trojans.
 
Villanti started all 18 games for the Sun Devils, moving into the midfielder role from the traditional defensive position in the back half of the season. She recorded eight goals and two assists for 10 total points as a midfielder.
 
Villanti also picked up a total 22 ground balls, five draw controls, and caused 12 opponent turnovers in the Sun Devils' inaugural season.
 
The award marks the first time a Sun Devil Lacrosse player has been named to the conference All-Tournament team.
 
The Sun Devils closed their inaugural season at the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday. The team capped the historic season of firsts with a program record six wins, including a thrilling 12-11 overtime victory at Cal on March 25.
